  • Tallon Crabs are quadrupedal crustaceans with two claws. One of their claws is much larger than the other, which is used for hunting and defensive maneuvers. Tallon Crabs generally travel in aggressive and dangerous swarms, though when isolated, they are timid and harmless. These creatures utilize similar tactics as Parasites, which also swarm for protection. These beings have an uncanny similarity to the crab depicted on the Spazer Beam upgrade, which may suggest that it held some symbolism within Chozo society before the Chozo race went extinct.
  • Tallon Crabs are small, quadrupedal crustaceanoids possessing a single pair of claws that are indigenous to the former Chozo colony world, Tallon IV, where they appear to favor aquatic environments. Similar to the fiddler crabs on Earth, one of their claws is significantly larger than the other, and but is used for hunting and defensive maneuvers instead of the fiddler's more sexually-based purposes. Presumably because of their miniscule size, they can be found generally travelling in aggressive and dangerous swarms in a manner similar to Parasites although once isolated they become timid and harmless. This may indicate some sort of pheromone to increase aggression in swarms, although this is far from the only possible explanation for this behavior.

Samus encounters Tallon Crabs in Tallon Overworld on Tallon IV. They swarm at her in the Main Ventilation Shaft Section A of the crashed Space Pirate frigate Orpheon, and seem to favor aquatic environments. As suggested by the scan data collected of them, they appear to be corrupted by Phazon exposure from Phazon present at the time of the Leviathan impact.

It is believed that they were acknowledged by the Chozo. Evidence of this exists in the manner of a similar if much larger creature - the Sciser - having existed on another Chozo colony, Zebes, which presumably indicates that a base creature was moved between likely several Chozo colonies. The various Spazer Beam technologies are also found held in a structure that highly resembles the Tallon IV crab, indicating that the Chozo may have even revered it at one time. However, the symbolism between the Tallon Crab and the Spazer Beam is not well understood, if any correlation even exists. When the Space Pirate frigate Orpheon crashlanded on Tallon IV due to Samus Aran's intervention, it was very quickly invaded by a swarm of Tallon Crabs.
