  • Torque was born in Baltimore and raised in Garvey's Children Home, where he met his future wife Carmen. They married and had two children together, Cory and Malcolm. Before the birth of Malcolm, Torque was allegedly set up for murder by the criminal ganglord, Blackmore, and spent an unknown amount of time in Eastern Correctional, a Baltimore prison. It was during a visit there that Carmen informed him of her intentions of divorce. It is apparent that they reconciled as they were living as a family at the time of the murders.

The men begin to die from yellow fever.
  • In physics, torque can be thought of informally as "rotational force". Torque is measured in units of newton metres, and its symbol is τ. The concept of torque, also called moment or couple, originated with the work of Archimedes on levers. The rotational analogues of force, mass and acceleration are torque, moment of inertia and angular acceleration respectively. The force applied to a lever, multiplied by its distance from the lever's fulcrum, is the torque. For example, a force of three newtons applied two metres from the fulcrum exerts the same torque as one newton applied six metres from the fulcrum. This assumes the force is in a direction at right angles to the straight lever. More generally, one may define torque as the cross product:

  • Torque, moment, or moment of force (see the terminology below) is the tendency of a force to rotate an object about an axis,[1] fulcrum, or pivot. Just as a force is a push or a pull, a torque can be thought of as a twist to an object. Torque has suffered from black outs his entire life. He alleges that some of the most heinous things he's done he does not remember doing and blames said blackouts. In summer 2004, Torque's wife and his two children were found dead at their home in Baltimore. Carmen was found in the master bedroom bludgeoned to death, Malcolm was found drowned in the bathtub, and Corey had apparently fallen to death from the second story window of his bedroom. When police responded to scene, Torque was found unconscious in the main hallway of the house. Though he claims to have no knowledge of the events or how his family died. However, with no other suspects, the fact that Torque was at the scene and covered in his wife's blood, and through questionable practices on the part of the prosecutor, Torque's trial was fast-tracked. He was found guilty despite no witness testimonies and a severe lack of substantial evidence. However, shortly after his sentencing, the prosecutor of his case was indicted and Torque's trial was to be reheard. Shortly after arriving at Abbott State Penitentiary on Carnate Island and Torque is escorted to his cell, an earthquake struck the island. Video surveillance of D-Block shows strange creatures killing all of the death-row inmates save for Torque. Torque's cell doors open, allowing him to escape and arm himself. Fighting his way through the prison, Torque learns about Carnate Island's horrifying past as well as what happened to his family during his black out. Ghosts from Abbott's past either help or hinder Torque, and human characters often need assistance to escape the island. The ghost of Dr. Killjoy, Abbott's former prison doctor, takes special interest in Torque and tries to cure him. Depending on the player's actions through the game, the mystery of Torque's family's death will be revealed in one of three endings.

  • Inspector Dudley "Deadly" Soames was the dirtiest man working in the corrupted Bludhaven Police Department. He first met Nightwing when he was ordered by Redhorn, the Police Chief, to execute the young vigilante. Soames, however, betrayed Redhorn, and allowed Nightwing to live, with the intention to pit various factions in Bludhaven against one another. He played both sides of the fence; he fed information on Blockbuster (Roland Desmond) 's criminal dealings to Nightwing, served Blockbuster as a mob lieutenant, and oversaw many of the criminal activities of Chief Redhorn's corrupt tenure with the police. After Soame's scheme to use Scarecrow against Nightwing failed disastrously, Blockbuster grew weary of his underling, and attempted to have him killed. Soames responded with surprising cunning, and ultimately tried to take Blockbuster's invalid mother hostage as part of a last bid for power. Nightwing attempted to intervene, but was forced to save innocent bystanders as Blockbuster twisted the dirty cop's head 180 degrees, leaving Soames for dead. Soames survived thanks to a breakthrough medical technique, and retrained himself to move normally, "seeing through the back of his head" with the use of glasses with a built-in array of mirrors. Soames brutally killed the doctor that had saved his life, morbidly renamed himself Torque, and (gaining the support of Intergang ) started a new gang war for the control of Bludhaven, revenge against Blockbuster, Nightwing, and the city he now felt he owned. After descending further into madness, Soames was brought to justice by Nightwing, only to arrange a prison break with the help of the imprisoned Nite-Wing . This would prove to be his undoing, since once freed he wasted no time in returning to his old plans, even attempting to enlist Nite-Wing into his reign of terror. The vigilante, however, had a zero-tolerance policy for crime, and upon realizing Soames' true nature, the two entered into a Mexican standoff that only Nite-Wing survived.

  • Torque, also called moment or moment of force (see the terminology below), is the tendency of a force to rotate an object about an axis, fulcrum, or pivot. Just as a force is a push or a pull, a torque can be thought of as a twist. Loosely speaking, torque is a measure of the turning force on an object such as a bolt or a flywheel. For example, pushing or pulling the handle of a wrench connected to a nut or bolt produces a torque (turning force) that loosens or tightens the nut or bolt. The terminology for this concept is not straightforward: In the US, in physics it is usually called "torque" and in mechanical engineering it is called "moment". However outside the US this varies. In the UK for instance, most physicists will use the term "moment". In mechanical engineering, the term "torque" means something different, described below. In this article the word "torque" is always used to mean the same as "moment". The symbol for torque is typically τ, the Greek letter tau. When it is called moment, it is commonly denoted M. The magnitude of torque depends on three quantities: the force applied, the length of the lever arm connecting the axis to the point of force application, and the angle between the force vector and the lever arm. In symbols: where τ is the torque vector and τ is the magnitude of the torque, r is the displacement vector (a vector from the point from which torque is measured to the point where force is applied), and r is the length (or magnitude) of the lever arm vector, F is the force vector, and F is the magnitude of the force, × denotes the cross product, θ is the angle between the force vector and the lever arm vector. The length of the lever arm is particularly important; choosing this length appropriately lies behind the operation of levers, pulleys, gears, and most other simple machines involving a mechanical advantage. The SI unit for torque is the newton metre (N·m). For more on the units of torque, see below.

Often, the direction of torque is not necessary; only the magnitude is required. In this case, if |F| is the magnitude of the force applied and d is the distance from the pivot point, File:Rotating tube.png This mechanics-related article contains minimal information concerning its topic. • A rather optimistic and delightful femme, Torque is the perfect person to come to if you needed fixing, just a check-up, or even a fresh coat of paint. She may not be a certified medic, but her knowledge of a Cybertronian's inner workings are just as good even if she sometimes takes the less than professional route which is pretty much why she never got her certification. But despite her odd bedside manner she's still a fun girl to hang out with, always having a tune in her head and a spring in her step whether she's drinking, partying, working, or just plain relaxing.

  • Torque and other prisoners were being transported from a Carribean Penal Colony on a penal ship. Torque leads an escape and insurrection to kill the crew and secure the ship while it travels in the Gulf of Mexico. He orders the ship ashore. The ship wrecks when it strikes a reef. Torque and the other criminals escape, taking refuge in the ruins of the ancient Aztec city of Quetana. In the city, they discover a vast treasure trove of gold Aztec relics. The men begin to die from yellow fever. Once they are all dead, Quetzal, the Aztec God of Justice, appears to deliver punishment to the criminals for their transgression of his sacred city. Quetzal turns them into undead, shambling remnants of the men they once were, cursed to wander as the living dead residents of the city. A half-century or so later, Professor Bob Martin enters Quetana in search of Aztec artifacts. Anne Martin, his wife, accompanies him, along with his assistants Red and Grogan. When they discover the treasure, they are seen by some of the Living Dead. They escape, but Red and Grogan, who followed to kill the Martins, ran into a group of the undead and were killed for their blood. "Blood! Blood we must have!" they say. The undead who attacked Red and Grogan were discovered to have drained the bodies by their comrades. Undead Torque says to the attackers, "You took more than your share!" In reply, one of the undead informs Torque and the others that the Martins remained. Torque orders them captured, which is summarily accomplished. Torque manages the doling out of the blood, ordering Professor Bob Martin donate his portion first, keeping Anne chained for later. Quetzal appears, and tells the Living Dead to knock it off. "Stop! Evil ones--go back to your eternal sufferings! Back, I say!" Quetzal lets the Martins go, because they were not as evil as the others. Red and Grogan are re-animated, and stay on as permanent residents of the City of the Living Dead.
  • Torque, moment, or moment of force (see the terminology below) is the tendency of a force to rotate an object about an axis,[1] fulcrum, or pivot. Just as a force is a push or a pull, a torque can be thought of as a twist to an object. Mathematically, torque is defined as the cross product of the lever-arm distance vector and the force vector, which tends to produce rotation. Loosely speaking, torque is a measure of the turning force on an object such as a bolt or a flywheel. For example, pushing or pulling the handle of a wrench connected to a nut or bolt produces a torque (turning force) that loosens or tightens the nut or bolt. The symbol for torque is typically au, the lowercase Greek letter tau. When it is called moment of force, it is commonly denoted M. The magnitude of torque depends on three quantities: the force applied, the length of the lever arm[2] connecting the axis to the point of force application, and the angle between the force vector and the lever arm. In symbols: where is the torque vector and is the magnitude of the torque, r is the displacement vector (a vector from the point from which torque is measured (typically the axis of rotation) to the point where force is applied), F is the force vector, × denotes the cross product, θ is the angle between the force vector and the lever arm vector. The length of the lever arm is particularly important; choosing this length appropriately lies behind the operation of levers, pulleys, gears, and most other simple machines involving a mechanical advantage. The SI unit for torque is the newton metre (N⋅m). For more on the units of torque, see Units.
