- The Herbalist (Japanese name) is one of the ten currently known classes of Etrian Odyssey V. Herbalists combine the healing strength of the Medic with the ailment-inducing prowess of the Hexer, using their knowledge of herbs to both heal and harm. Most notably, their smoke skills, through which they inflict ailments, also reduce the affected enemies' resistance to that ailment, allowing for a better chance when attempting the ailment again. Herbalists are typically only able to wear clothing and wield staves, but can also wield bows and scythes.
- This octogenarian devoted forty years of her life to making herbal medicines for wounded Earth Kingdom troops at an abandoned medical institution. For a time, she was the only person living in and taking care of the institute, as all her students left the area to support the war effort. Her only companion was Miyuki, her beloved cat. Zuko, Iroh, and June also encountered the herbalist when they were tracking the Avatar with June's shirshu by means of Katara's necklace.
- Medicine in the Old World is primitive, unreliable, and expensive, so many people rely on traditional cures and medicines handed down through the centuries. In fact, many people distrust 'scientific' medicine. Herbalists, on the other hand, are respected members of society, although their clientele is not generally so exclusive as that of the Physicians. They gather and trade in herbs and prepare herbal remedies for all manner of ills. In rare and severe cases, they will treat the patient personally. Some do misuse their powers, as those who have been the subject of love or charm philtres know only too well, but the profession is steeped in the folklore of the Old World and most of the common people feel the Herbalist is their only friend when they fall ill.

- Herbalist is one of the many role-playing subclasses in Elder Tale.
Aang learned that the herbalist lived at the top of a nearby mountain and traveled there to find a cure for Sokka and Katara after they fell ill. After a brief yet frustrating meeting with him, the old woman told Aang that his friends must suck on the frozen bodies of hibernating frogs to be cured, which could be found in many of the region's riverbeds. Zuko, Iroh, and June also encountered the herbalist when they were tracking the Avatar with June's shirshu by means of Katara's necklace.

Most notably, their smoke skills, through which they inflict ailments, also reduce the affected enemies' resistance to that ailment, allowing for a better chance when attempting the ailment again. Their prestige titles enhance one of their two specialties. Merciful Herbalists get more potent healing abilities to rival that of the Medics, and receive better Wisdom and Vitality growth for better healing and survival. Poison Masters have greater mastery over their Smoke skills, allowing them to further debilitate their enemies by stunning or even petrifying them, and enjoy better Luck and Intelligence growth to meet this end. Herbalists are typically only able to wear clothing and wield staves, but can also wield bows and scythes.
