The Tiber River Plains were a large tract of forests that ran across Asphodel Meadow's equator, and were used for UNSC Special Operations Command forest combat training exercises. The Calypso Mountains were a mountain range nearby the Special Warfare Center. The high-security ONI Deep Space Naval Observatory was one light-year in deep space from Asphodel Meadows. In December 2553, Beah Schore would briefly visit the planet for undisclosed purposes. Later, Asphodel Meadows Naval Special Warfare Center would exploit the planet's diverse environments as fertile military training grounds for Kimberly Ivy Blackburn, under the PATRIOT / FORECAST special access programs in Section Three's Department of Biological Warfare. By 2582, Asphodel Meadows once again would become a planetary training ground, this time, for the Myrmidon child soldier-commandos. The Tiber River Plains, well-forested, would become ideal for military subterfuge training, and the adjacent Herakles Sea would be used to train the Myrmidons in maritime operations, such as maritime counterterrorism and littoral reconnaissance and insertion. In addition, Asphodel Meadows was known for its brothels, as noted by Garnet Rowntree during Operation: ALBANY COBRA. Asphodel Meadows was infamous for being the home of the UNSC Directorate of Naval Intelligence Operations, the "Black Tower", the home of the highest echelons of the Office of Naval Intelligence. The official office of the Director of Naval Intelligence also resided on Asphodel Meadows. The combined proximity of Naval Intelligence and the Asphodel Meadows Naval Special Warfare Center made Asphodel Meadows the womb for numerous ONI black projects, such as the Myrmidon Program, Human Configuration, and the BQ3 Specter-class stealth bomber.
