The members hailed from Fort Thomas, KY (John Purcell-Guitar, Craig Baker-Bass, Tom Becker-Drums) and Cincinnati, OH (Brian Day-Voice). The band formed years earlier through a collaboration between Purcell, Baker, and Becker. In early 94', the band found their voice, when they stumbled across Brian Day. Things evolved quickly. A couple months after the band was complete they put on their fist D.I.Y. show at the Fort Thomas Cantine. Bad Samaritans opened for local Cincinnati band, Grindhouse, at their own show. Two months later the band entered a studio to record ten songs. The resulting C.D. was a result of first takes with back up vocals by the whole band, recorded later. About a month later, Bad Samaritans put on their second D.I.Y show. Humble as they were, they once again opened the show for the invited band, Preparation H. At this show, which unfortunetly would be their last show, the band released the demo versions of the ten recorded songs. The tape was a cult hit and is still in circulation from attending crowd members that night. Shortly after their second show, Bad Samaritans called it quits. The circumstances surrounding the breakup are still unknown, but it was rumored to be nothing more than petty differences between band mates. Brian Day went on to form the Cincinnati Horror Punk sensation, Vladimirs. The band formed in 1995 and recorded that most recent album in 2007. The bands current situation and fate are unknown. During the early years with the Vladimirs, Brian Day reunited with Craig Baker to form Squared Away, a 80's hardcore revival band. They recorded and released a C.D. that also was locally well received.
