He had the right to emergency powers if the Senate approved, and he could mobilize military units to any part of the galaxy, but he must have the approval of his advisors. There was one instance when the Commander was given his emergency powers, in 8 ABY. It was when unknown invaders landed on the planet on a remote island in the Tuismia. Their numbers were very large, and they were of many different species. The Commander sent ten wings of fighters to contact the enemy, and if the enemy attacked them, destroy them. The fighters did not respond when the Alliance Council contacted them. The Military Commander sent two Alliance II-class Eloquian Destroyers to destroy the enemy target. They were successful.
