The Smasher was a small boy who had an unfortunate habit of destroying things, more often than not by accident .He almost always wore a red and black diamond patterned jumper or shirt, giving him a vaguely similar appearance to Dennis the Menace.
Hugh Morren drew the strip from 1958 to 1984, when it was taken over by Dave Gudgeon until 1986. Brian Walker then took over and carried on drawing the strip until it became intermittent and then finally vanished when the Dandy was relaunched in 2004. Lew Stringer has since revived the character in the 2013 and 2014 Dandy Annual's.
