He was also long-held and trusted Jedi Watchmen of his home planet of Kashyyyk During his time amongst the Jedi Order, Hanok-Kie would go from a promising young padawan, tested by the invasion of the Sith and forced into the role of an early trainer of Jedi before he believed himself ready, leading to the fall and redemption of a young padawan Vandar Tokare during the Third Great Schism, and the fall and death of his second padawan Teln Sirosh at the hands of Exar Kun's mass assassination attempt on Jedi Masters during the Old Sith Wars. These losses would lead a still relatively young, for his species, Hanok-Kie questioning his place as a teacher and Jedi Master, but through the teaching, training, ascendancy to Knight and Master, and eventually love of the Neti woman Dra'lin, Hanok-Kie would go on to found a series of teachings and methods that would become the basic tenants of the Jedi's training of long-lived and developing padawans. These tenants, which Kie would help found over a thousand years, would help long-lived Jedi to both learn wisdom at what would be considered a young age for their species, and also learn to ascend the Jedi ranks slowly so as not to rush their status beyond what their species natural development should be kept at, while watching keenly and teaching patiently so as to keep the apprenticeships of such great length from becoming frustrating, thus the falls from grace Kie had seen before. These tenants would be focused on by Kie's respected listing of other padawans, including Oteg, the only known Gen'Dai Jedi, The Tranquil, N'Kata Del Gormo, Tyvokka, Antaria Wellos, Corran Horn, Lowbacca, and the Anzati Jedi, Boran Morratto. But perhaps, despite all of his successes, he is perhaps best known for his third and last student to fall from grace and embrace the dark side, the Miraluka woman and Jedi Knight turned secret Sith, Darth Creed, who would go on to purge a large portion of the New Jedi Order with her apprentice, before suffering her ultimate defeat at the hands of Hanok-Kie, his former padawan's Lowbacca, The Tranquil, and his at-the-time padawan Boran. Beyond his expansive history in training long-lived Jedi, Hanok-Kie was best known for his fierce defense of the Republic, in it's many variations, soldier's and troops, so much so that he took a role with his at-the-time padawan Dra'lin as a healer in the Mandalorian Wars. He even went as far as to train several iterations of their Orbital Drop Troopers. A veteran of far too many wars for his liking, Kie garnered a respected reputation as a Jedi Battlemaster, so much so that he garnered the nickname 'The Preserver' for his defensive capabilities in both lightsaber combat and force abilities, as evident by his Long-handled Lightsaber Cane, and so much so that he is the first recorded user of the weapon, an therefor the designer of the weapon's use, at least as the defensive weapon of a Jedi. Throughout his life and many exiles, Hanok-Kie became something of a legend among both Jedi and Sith simply for his age and prowess and placement in major galactic wars, however Hanok-Kie was always very uncomfortable with that reputation, though that was a mask for the losses of his master and his closest friends due to his age, and the many Jedi he had known that were lost to The Sith, thousands of years of war, and great purges that had nearly wiped out entire lifetimes of padawans and respected peers and had sent him repeatedly into exile. This however, represented his greatest legacy; the survival of life as an unusually long-lived being, the teachings of how that life could help others in similar, and sometimes all-together different situations, and how that effected the course of history and the Jedi as a whole.
