He is also the one who gives prizes (balloons and pieces of amulets) in a cutscene after a level is cleared. He will be everytime walking on Timber Island center, where the player may call him by touching him or simply using the horn close to him or in the carpet in the format of his face. If he is called by horn out of the carpet, he will simply walk to the player. But if the player use the horn in the carpet with his face, he will teleport himself to there. Each time the player win a race or a piece of TT or Wizpig amulet, he will appear flying on his carpet and give the prize to the player. He also challenges the player to make a 3 lap race around Timber Island with the three kinds of vehicle and he on his magic carpet.

Taj can be seen in the trailer for Donkey Kong Racing where he was racing Donkey Kong with both on Zingers and raced Diddy and Donkey on Rambis where he was seen with a small red Rambi. He can also be seen riding past the LET'S RIDE words on a Zinger at the end of the trailer. Taj reappears as an unlockable character in Diddy Kong Racing DS. He is unlocked by defeating the first Adventure Mode. Taj has maximum top speed, but horrible acceleration and turning. He is the fastest character in the game when in a car. He is also your guide when not racing and not controlling him.

He speaks with an Indian accent in the original Diddy Kong Racing and talks more often than in the DS remake where he is given an British accent. His name comes from the Taj Mahal, a famous landmark in India. Taj mainly helps out the player by his challenges where the player learns to ride on the car, plane, and the hovercraft. In the DS remake, the Taj Tokens challenge appeared and the blow out torches challenge also appeared. He also changes the player's vehicle on which one they desire to change. In the DS remake, he also opens the Wishes Menu if the player requests it. Taj also appears as an unlockable character in Diddy Kong Racing DS where he can be unlocked by completing the first Adventure Mode. He has high speed, but horrible handling and acceleration. He shares these stats with Wizpig, the antagonist and an unlockable character in the game. Taj was going to be a playable character in the cancelled game Donkey Kong Racing as he can be seen racing on a small red Rambi against Donkey and Diddy on regular sized Rambi and a giant Rambi respectively. He is also seen racing Donkey Kong on Zingers in a forest area. He also appears at the end of the trailer riding on a Zinger past the possible slogan saying "LET'S RIDE".

Taj can also change the vehicle being used currently for a different one. In the original Diddy Kong Racing, he has an Indian accent, and speaks much more often. He was also voiced by Nintendo in the game. When the player summons his attention, he always says "Hello, friend" and asks what the player what they would like to do. In the Nintendo DS remake, he speaks less (he says nothing during the victory cutscene for each track and doesn't appear at all for the Wish Races) and what he says when the player summons his attention changes all of the time. Once the player selects something for him to do, he disappears without asking if he can help any further. He also has a British accent in Diddy Kong Racing DS where he was presumably voiced by Rareware.
