abstract
  • Edward Francis was a human Insurrectionist. Born on Eridanus II, his family moved to the colony of Green Fields in 2513, after the coup by Colonel Watts and eventual retaliation United Nations Space Command. Hoping to escape the Insurrection, the Francis family had no such luck, and in 2515, he joined the Green Fields Colonial Army, looking for adventure and a chance to become a hero, rather than joining the UNSC Army, which he had an animosity against after he witnessed them kill several of his friends, who were Insurrectionist fighters, while he lived on Eridanus II. Eventually put under the tutelage of rebel ace Andrew Edan, Francis learned to fly the rebels' main aerial warrior, the Cessna-Beechcraft Skyhawk II, and later its military model, the A-99 Thunderchief II, from him. During his period of service up until 2529, Francis was responsible for shooting down seven UNSC Air Force D77-TC Pelicans and counter insurgency aircraft, leading him to be awarded the Cross of Merit for his actions. In 2531, after the death of Edan in the crash of an F-210 Saber II, despite the attempts of his superiors to place him to fly the aircraft type, Francis refused to do so, preferring to stay with his original aircraft, his mentor's death having disturbed him greatly. In 2553, when the UNSC returned to Green Fields, Francis, like so many other GFCA fighters, simply gave up the fight, his aircraft eventually being flown as late as 2610, and being placed in the Museum of Humanity. Francis himself passed in 2577 of old age in a small settlement made up of former Insurrectionists like himself, and was given a pseudo military burial by his former comrades.
