They lived beneath the planet's surface, where they used the magnetic properties of the metal composing their mountains to power their civilization. In 2266, the Inicrust natives were unaware that their planet was on a collision course with the planet Morti until they were alerted to the fact by a landing party from the USS Enterprise led by Captain James T. Kirk. Initially suspicious of the newcomers, the Inicrust natives were assured of their intentions and gave them a tour of their civilization. The planet and its inhabitants were saved from destruction when the Enterprise used a particle of the exploded star Doona to prevent the collision. (TOS comic: "When Planets Collide")
