Entering adventure as a command will start it, but only if the cheat mode has been activated with hereComesTrouble. All of the character's actions are controlled by console inputs.
  • This is the main game mode. In this mode, you progress through 21 levels and accumulate pets on every Tank.
  • There are 11 levels total in War of the Monsters: Adventure Mode. Each level completed rewards the player with battle tokens which they can unlock different skins for each Monster. The Raptros and Zorgulon are not available by default and must be unlocked after accumulating enough tokens and buying them. From there, further skins can be purchased and they can also be used for Free-For-All mode.
  • In Adventure Mode, the player starts out with only a Peashooter. The fifth level in each area is a bonus level, which takes the form of a mini-game. The tenth level of every stage is a conveyor-belt level. Every fifth level, except for Level 5-5, is later unlocked as a mini-game or Puzzle Mode level. During Level 3-2, the mini-games mode is unlocked, and Puzzle Mode is unlocked during Fog Level 4-6.
  • Adventure Mode is unlocked for all characters by completing Act V with any character, regardless of the character level, and once unlocked, can be used by any character of any level of the same type (Hardcore/Softcore and Seasonal/Normal) on account. None of the Campaign Mode storyline quests are available in this mode; instead, special zones can only be found in Adventure Mode: * Treasure Realm * Ruins of Sescheron and Eternal Woods * Royal Quarters * Greyhollow Island * Guild Hideout It is designed to be light on story content, based more around replayability.
  • The standard map in Adventure Mode. There are four playable characters to unlock as well as different tiered weapons for all characters, excluding DLC. Waiting on Hyrule Warriors title screen for several minutes shows an alternate title screen related to the Adventure mode map, that mimics the original Legend of Zelda title screen. It contains a modified story similar to that of the original game followed by a list of the item (cards) used in the Adventure mode, and brief explanation of Adventure mode. The 'story' text included states:

There are three map-levels in Adventure Mode: global (a map of Sanctuary), act/region level, and radial (the map of a player's current location). The player has one more layer of automap (world) that allows moving between all five acts at will. All waypoints are unlocked and can be accessed at any time. Horned icons represent bosses and key icons represent Keywardens. Some of the waypoints are misplaced to prevent easy access to bosses. Artisans are slightly relocated in some Acts. A Wardrobe is also available in each town. Kadala and Kanai's Cube can only be found in Adventure Mode.

The 'story' text included states: A long, long time ago, Ganon, the prince of darkness, stole the Triforce of Power. He used that power to invade the kingdom of Hyrule and make it his own. He then released eight monsters into the world to solidify his rule. Go, Link! Defeat Ganon and his minions! While the map of the Adventure mode is based loosely on the map of the original Legend of Zelda. The actual mission objectives have no direct connecting storyline, and the 'story' has little to do with the actions in the actual Adventure mode (The missions on map squares with the NES Zelda's dungeons have bosses, but they aren't required for progress, nor do you try collect the 'Triforce of Power', though each Adventure Mode map is beaten by completing the mission which has Ganon as the boss). The Ganon boss fight ends with a cutscene with text reminiscent of the ending text of the first Zelda game, followed by credits.

In any rare case, if you run out of time (7:00), you try that stage or battle again from the beginning. However, no stock gets lost. Except for the Brinstar Escape Shaft as you lose a stock, but you move on (as if it was a Bonus Stage). Unlike Classic Mode, you lose a stock if you don't complete the battle in 5:00.
