Conan can't bear to let a friend rot in prison, goes to the dungeon (while being watched by a mysterious, hooded Stygian priest) and fights a guard, who turns out to be a were-tiger! Conan defeats the beast and rescues Yusef, but the two are ambushed by guards. The timely intervention of Belit saves to two men, and Yusef explains that while in prison, he heard about the magical page that was stolen from the wizard Thoth-Amon, and there was some connection to the Black Legions of Valusia. Suddenly, Sonja rides by out of the city, and Conan and Belit chase after her...
