Unlike Dai Shi, Long intends to rule Humanity instead of destroying them, and has used Dai Shi from the shadows to test the new Defenders of the Earth. It is later revealed that Long is actually the Beast Spirit King, unable to understand the cruelty of humanity he split Dai Shi from his negative chi, and went to sleep. He tested the true worth of Humanity, and understood to restore spiritual balance and usurp the Pai Zhuq, he had to gain the power of Humanity and thus took a mortal form during the defeat of Dai Shi.
