For some time, Superboy-Prime was being held on Oa, within a specially designed Sciencecell, at the heart of a miniature red-sun eater. Due to the extreme threat to the universe should Superboy-Prime escape, fifty Green Lanterns were watching him at all times. They watched without the need for sleep or sustenance, constantly vigilant performing what is called "prime duty." Markot Five was one of the Green Lanterns assigned this task until released from prime duty by Green Lantern Salaak. His replacement was Honor Guard Lantern Guy Gardner, who had been punished for disobeying the orders of the Guardians of the Universe.
