  • The Comedy Store is a comedy club located in Hollywood, California on the famed Sunset Blvd. It opened in 1972, and has helped launch the career of many comedians, including Jerry Seinfeld, Andy Kaufman, Jim Carrey, David Letterman, Jay Leno and Robin Williams. In the Jim Henson Hour episode "Miss Piggy's Hollywood", Fozzie Bear visits the famed club, auditioning for them. Dave Goelz makes a cameo in the club before Fozzie gives his audition. Statler and Waldorf are also in the audience, once again heckling the bear.
  • History: The Comedy Store has had several famous comedians come to perform, but another thing that the store is famous for is that it is believed to be haunted. Several people who have worked at the store have claimed to have encountered several spirits and have had other strange occurences. One worker claimed that a metal gate that had the fire extinguisher behind it would continually open and close for no apparent reason. Two workers claimed that while in the basement of the store, a strange dark mist appeared and the workers felt that it was a bad presence, so they left. No one can explain why the Comedy Store appears to be haunted.
  • The Comedy Store was opened in April 1972 by comedians Sammy Shore and Rudy DeLuca. The building was formerly the home of Ciro's.
