  • A teleporter is a device which allows characters to teleport from one location to another location in the same zone. There are both one-way and two-way teleporters. The exit of a one-way teleporter appears as a glowing ring of symbols, with a cloud of sparkles in the center and a ring of sparkles over the symbols. Stepping onto a teleporter will teleport the character and their heroes, as well as any henchmen. Teleporters in the Dajkah Inlet mission teleport the entire party.
  • Teleportation is only made possible by a portal. The teleporter is able to open such a portal. The basic idea of teleportation is based on black hole research. A sudden interruption of the energy supply creates a connection between two points in the universe. The prerequisite for this is that the two points must have the same resonance. Therefore, a resonance generator is brought to each planet by the colony ship right from the start. Teleportation is only possible between solar systems, because the resonance only has a short range. In addition, you can only teleport to your own planets.

It was first seen when the Simulant Captain used it to beam aboard Starbug, breaking their ruse of the Vindaloovians. (RD: Gunmen of the Apocalypse) In a later episode, they go back to scavenge whatever they can from the ruins of the battle crusier, but are ambushed by the Simulant Lieutenant. Whilst Rimmer escaped in the Escape Pod, the others used the teleporter to warp back to Starbug as the Simulant ship disintegrated around them. They later use the teleporter to escape Rimmerworld, but find themselves in the future accidentally where Lister is missing... (RD: Rimmerworld)

At that time, Republic scientist Lora theorized that the original architects of Belsavis had used a teleportation system to move throughout the massive prison. She tasked a Republic spacer with scanning several Rakatan terminals in order to provide an analysis of the technology. At that time, a breakout occurred on Belsavis that saw the captive Esh-kha unleashed where some of their warriors commandeered the teleportation system to transport their soldiers on board a frigate in high orbit. This fact attracted the attention of the Republic Strategic Information Service where Agent Moritt recruited a Republic spacer with preventing the Esh-kha from escaping through the use of this technology in the lower levels of Belsavis. Agent Poz of RSIS studied the technology and helped the spacer with using the teleporter to enter the deeper levels. She theorized the teleporters might not be capable of matter transmission but perhaps replicating matter of a subject or even perhaps functioned as fixed dimensional pathways. As the possibilities were infinite, Poz them "Instantaneous Travel Device" and tracked the Esh-kha to an older vault who were controlling the teleporter. Thus, a Republic strike team led by Captain Devlin teleported through the device with the spacer to assault the Esh-kha.

Within that sector, there must be a teleport landing Thing, which specifies the coordinates and angle the player or monster will have after teleporting. Barrels will also teleport if they cross a teleport linedef while being pushed from damaged. If a monster or player is on the landing spot at the time of teleporting, monsters will not teleport but players will, killing whatever was on the landing spot. This is known as a telefrag. A player will self-telefrag if a voodoo doll is on the landing spot. In vanilla implementations, moreover, monsters can telefrag each other or the player on of any WAD (some source ports allow the player to disable this exception or apply it to every map). Teleporter linedefs are direction-sensitive. This is necessary for cases where the landing area is another teleporter, so that the player can walk off the landing spot without teleporting again. Conventionally, a teleporter is constructed as a 64-unit square with a distinctive floor texture; however, this is not a technical requirement. All sides of a teleporter usually teleport to the same place, but again this is not required: some levels attempt to confuse the player by sending him/her to different places depending on which side the teleporter is entered from. An example of both of these instances can be seen in MAP18: The Courtyard in Doom II, where the player is teleported without warning when entering a particular room but is not teleported when leaving that room. Teleporters figure prominently in Doom's background story: it was an unexpected side effect of UAC's experiments with teleportation that opened the gates of Hell. Boom introduced some extended teleporter line types, including switch-activated teleporters and silent teleporters. The latter preserve player orientation, position, momentum and height so that the teleport may not be noticed; this can be used to simulate rooms over rooms and for other special effects.

The word "teletransportation" (which simply expands Charles Fort's abbreviated term) was first employed by Derek Parfit as part of a thought exercise on identity. Contents

When she place a teleporter, a member on her enemies team will announce the its existence and prompt their teammates to find it. The first enemy to spot a teleporter will inform their teammates about the finding with a voice line. The same occurs when it is destroyed by an enemy. Symmetra will also announce the status of her teleporter if it is attacked by enemies, or destroyed, or expend all its uses. As of the September 1, 2016 patch, Symmetra now communicates how many charges the teleporter has left when using the "Ultimate Status" communication.

  • In Going Commando and Up Your Arsenal, a teleporter very similar to that of the first two games is used to get to the Insomniac Museum. In Deadlocked, Ratchet used a teleporter to return into his prison ship. In Going Mobile, Ratchet and Clank used teleporters to change areas in the virtual world.
  • A teleporter is found in 2 places in both LOA, and Braike. They are the men in cloaks by the hovering cirtaglaphics found distant parts from eachother. In other maps such as Draco, Python, or Dennebe, there is only one teleporter - Usually found in the rural, safe areas. The teleporters are used to switch between maps without having to run back and fourth, in case, saving a heap of time.
  • A teleporter is an agent that moves a norn somewhere. Compare with Door. An example of a teleporter is the Archway by Aquashee.
  • The Forerunners were known to use a teleporter to transport from the Apex site to the interior surface of the Shield World encountered by the Covenant and UNSC in 2531. This same teleporter appears to also transport to other parts of the interior surface, though only one teleporter is used to send things back to the Apex. The Covenant acquired this technology to a degree in one of their countless relic-hunts, and later utilized it in Spires, large structures that could teleport forces to the ground from a ship overhead. They were used to an extent in the Fall of Reach.
  • Can be crafted in your Crafting Menu (default key "Q") or at any old Crafting Table in worlds created before R22 on September 16th 2015. The recipe for the Teleporter will be unlocked once you take an Obsidian Bar (out of the Forge). Crafted from: * 6 Obsidian Slabs, made in a Processor from Obsidian (bars) * 1 (blocks of) Magnetite, and * 8 Stone Rods made in a Processor from Stone, Limestone or Bedrock (as per R22 in September 2015). This crafts 2 Teleporters at a time. To make them work initially, you must place them and interact with them. You can then rename your Teleporters (giving yourself a hint where that specific teleporter will lead you) The UI that comes up will allow you to name the teleporter and has two sets of three slots. These are portal codes that you may change by placing items in your inventory. You may use any inventory item (natural or crafted blocks, crafting-materials, items like furniture, weapons, food, explosives, and even liquids) to define an individual code for each teleporter. Putting something in these slots does take it from your inventory. Leaving the slots empty is accepted as a code as well. The upper slot-line ("in") is the code for the teleporter you are currently setting up, so other teleporters can lead you here. The number next to the upper code shows you how many teleporters currently lead to the one you're just looking at. The bottom slot-line ("out") is the code for the teleporter you will go to from here (when you use the current teleporter in front of you). The number indicates how many teleporters with this code exist / have been put up in this world. If the bottom number is 0, then the teleporter will lead you nowhere, meaning that the teleport won't work at all. If the bottom number is higher than 1, this means that more than one teleporter with this specific codes exists on this game-world. In this case by using the teleporter you might randomly be transported to any of the teleporters with this code. You might want to jump to them and change their codes to different individual ones, so you can define precisely to which teleporter you actually want to go. Once you've placed and set both codes up properly, simply walk through the teleporter to be teleported to the teleporter with the code you've set in the bottom slot-sline. To move teleporters, you first need to take out any items placed in them (as codes) then use any kind of Power Cell to pull and take them. Using teleporters for short distances may skip loading screens during teleportation. This could be used for very fast movement, by using pairs of teleporters to move around in small areas. P.S.: Pigsies and other creatures can use the teleporter (and will be transported to the destination-teleporter), but there have been no reports of player-characters slowly turning into Pigsies or becoming Pigmen yet :D
  • Sonic the Hedgehog and Tails used teleporters to pursue Dr. Ivo "Eggman" Robotnik, who planned to steal the Master Emerald to fuel his Death Egg. Later, Knuckles the Echidna also used them to stop an Eggrobo in it's attempt to steal the emerald. (VG: S&K)
