  • The Death Star I, also known as the DS-1 Orbital Battle Station, the Imperial Space Station, the Ultimate Weapon and most commonly the Death Star, is a moon-sized military space-station that is the Galactic Empire's ultimate weapon of doom, capable of destroying planets with a single shot of it's super-laser. The Death Star was to be an instrument of terror, meant to cow treasonous worlds with the threat of annihilation. It had a formidable array of turbo-lasers and tractor beam projectors, giving it the firepower of greater than half the Imperial starfleet. Within its cavernous interior were legions of Imperial troops and fightercraft, as well as all manner of detention blocks and interrogation cells. In a brutal display of the Death Star's power, Grand Moff Tarkin, one the Empire's preeminent governors, targeted its prime weapon at the peaceful world of Alderaan. Princess Leia Organa, an Imperial captive at the time, was forced to watch as the searing laser blast split apart her beloved homeworld, turning the planet and its populace into orbital ash and debris.

  • Death Star is a novel in the Star Wars Expanded Universe, written by Michael Reaves and Steve Perry. Perry also wrote Shadows of the Empire. Reaves wrote a few episodes of the old Droids and Ewoks television shows, as well as Darth Maul: Shadow Hunter and the Coruscant Nights Trilogy. Prior to Death Star, the two authors worked together to write the Medstar Duology. They re-use characters and details from one anothers' previously-written works with some regularity. The novel follows the lives of a selection of characters who end up working on the Death Star late in its completion, and after that. They include Darth Vader, Grand Moff Tarkin, Admiral Motti, an old surgeon, a Force-Sensitive stormtrooper, a bartender, a librarian, a bouncer, a TIE pilot, a wrongly accused convict, a political prisoner who was an architect, and the Death Star's lead gunner. Interestingly, there is no overall villain of the book. The Rebellion is certainly out there, weighing on people's minds, but aside from the minor role that Leia Organa plays, none of them are named or given much notoriety, much less become a viewpoint character. Some characters oppose each other - Motti does not like Vader, for instance - but until the end most of them are at least somewhat civil with each other. They're all more or less on the same side, after all.

  • The "Death Stars", as nicknamed by Commander Ronnie Kozar and Ensign Goris M'Rev, were starships of an unknown alien origin from the 29th century. The so-called "Death Stars" were under the general command of a cohort of Future Guy, hoping to alter the outcome of the Dominion War as part of the Temporal Cold War. The major limitation of the "Death Star" was that it could only exist in its past for a very limited amount of time. The time travel ability was based on a principle of folded space transport. (Star Trek: Lambda Paz: " The Tides of War, Part 1") That such direct actions were not taken to alter the 22nd century suggests that this approach to time travel does not stretch that far back. These ships were first encountered in the 24th century in 2374, during the First Betreka Nebula counterstrike of the Dominion War. Two them appeared and opened fire on the USS Lambda Paz. These ships torpedoes were capable of penetrating Starfleet defensive shielding. Their strategy was to slow the ship down and allow two nearby Jem'Hadar fighters to come around for another pass. The Jem'Hadar then boarded the Lambda Paz and the ensuing firefight led to the death of MACO commander Jonathan Davis. The "Death Stars" were encountered a second time by 24th century Starfleet personnel, after Captain Limis Vircona and Ensign Rebecca Sullivan of the Lambda Paz escaped the custody of Sindareen proxy agents. This time, however, a time traveler from the 31st Century made modifications to the runabout USS Potomac's weapons and shields. During a third encounter, Captain Limis ordered tactical officer Jovis Ren to unseal a computer file on Grabowski's modifications. In anticipation of the time traveling ship's strategy, Limis then ordered the Lambda Paz out of warp to disable a Galor-class Cardassian warship dispatched by Gul Hadar to capture Limis. (Star Trek: Lambda Paz: " The Tides of War, Part 1")

The Death Star appeared in "Brian Griffin's House of Payne" in the shape of Peter's face in Stewie's imagination. In reality, he was using his spaceship toy to pretend to attack his father's face. The second Death Star is under construction in It's A Trap!, just as it was in Return of the Jedi. Power Station performs inside it.
