He quickly proved that was no fluke, driving to a career-best 6th place finish at Sacramento. Potter's final two races came in 1960, but those two turned out to be a struggle. Starting 22nd in the field at Hanford, Potter fell out of the race near the halfway point and finished 25th. He fared little better back in Sacramento, losing a rear end gear near the halfway point and finishing 17th.
