His grandfather's unexpected death in 1835 left a five-year-old George VII as Emperor. George VII throughout his long reign held to strict principals of duty and was devoted to his country and all of his people. George VII was also the embodiement of Komnenos-Palaiologos values of traditionalism and conservatism. He was the longest-reigning emperor of Diadochia.
