His nephews Arthur and Bryce Brown were amongst the best high school football prospects in the United States. Bryce Brown now plays for the Philadelphia Eagles of the National Football League. Arthur is enrolled at Kansas State University. Lawrence Pete played nose tackle for the University of Nebraska from 1986-88. Lawrence Pete is now assistant vice president and branch manager for Bank of the West in Omaha. Lawrence Pete was inducted into the Nebraska Football Hall of Fame on September 9, 2011.
