  • An aircar was a small flying personal transportation device designed for day-to-day travel and used to a great extent on most human worlds of the Post Diaspora era. Havenite aircars were powered by hydrogen engines. (HH3)
  • An aircar is a type of car, capable of flight several feet off of the ground, making it an airmobile. Aircars were a common sight on Krypton prior to its' destruction. On Earth-Two, the bullet car was an example of an early aircar on the planet Earth.
  • When Captain Archer was brought back ten months to his apartment by Daniels, he looked out his window into the city and saw aircars flying by. (ENT: "Shockwave") In 2259 of the alternate reality, outside the apartment window of Thomas and Rima Harewood, an aircar could be seen flying in the distant London skyline. (Star Trek Into Darkness) In the alternate reality, an aircar flew over Starfleet Headquarters when Kirk and Spock reported to Admiral Pike following the incident on the planet Nibiru. A few aircars could also be seen outside Pike's office window. (Star Trek Into Darkness)
  • An aircar is a VTOL (Vertical Take-Off and Landing) vehicle capable of taking off and landing like a helicopter, but which flies like an airplane. Aircars can increase or decrease their altitude by 20 meters a turn. When scouting, aircars fly at or above the level of the treetops, 50 to 100 meters above the ground. To stay out of sight they can fly very close to the ground, following the contours of the hills and valleys. This is called Nap of the Earth (NOE) flying. NOE flying limits an aircar to 100 kph (175 meters/turn).
  • An aircar, grav-car, skycar or antigrav flyer was a small flying vehicle used for travel across relatively short distances on a planet. They often flew using antigravity technology. Aircars of various types were employed on many planets, including Ferenginar, Betazed, Qo'noS and on Orion Colonies. (DS9 novel: Ferenginar: Satisfaction is Not Guaranteed; TNG - Slings and Arrows eBook: The Insolence of Office; KE novel: A Burning House; FASA RPG modules: The Orions: Book of Common Knowledge, Orion Ruse) The Yivoq was a type of Klingon aircar (KE novel: A Burning House).

A parawing is a small, emergency glider, similar to a glijet with no rocket. A parawing will not work if the wearer was less than 10 meters above the ground when he or she jumped.

(Star Trek Into Darkness) When Thomas Harewood went to the Kelvin Memorial Archive to blow it up, a couple aircars were in the sky nearby. (Star Trek Into Darkness) When Kirk and Pike went to Starfleet Headquarters, a number of aircars were flying by in the San Francisco skyline. One could also be seen from the window outside the Daystrom Conference Room, and after Pike's death, one flew by outside Kirk's apartment. (Star Trek Into Darkness) In 2259 of the alternate reality, after John Harrison attacked the Daystrom Conference Room with a jumpship, some police aircars converged on the scene at Starfleet Headquarters. (Star Trek Into Darkness) In the alternate reality, when Montgomery Scott was at the Port of San Francisco bar with Keenser, an aircar could be seen flying over the water near the building. (Star Trek Into Darkness) In the alternate reality, while Spock and Khan were engaged in combat on a garbage barge flying down a skyway, a few aircars could be seen flying by. (Star Trek Into Darkness) In 2364, when Jean-Luc Picard was visiting a holographic recreation of the Café des Artistes on the Enterprise holodeck, a couple of aircars could be seen in the Paris skyline. (TNG: "We'll Always Have Paris" )

Orion aircars of the 23rd century generally used Federation-made antigravity units (FASA RPG module: The Orions: Book of Common Knowledge). On Daros IV, however, aircars could have Klingon components. One design had a top speed of 160 kilometers per hour, a pressurized cabin for flying over tall mountains, and could carry 10 passengers. Others were smaller six-seaters, and were mostly automated. (FASA RPG module: Orion Ruse) Flyers were widely used for civilian and military transport on the planet Treva. They were lifted by antigravs and controlled by onboard computers, but lacked inertial control. They came in a wide variety of designs, ranging from small, fast, and versatile civilian models to armed military models such as troop carriers, fighters, and heavily-armed versions. (TNG novel: Survivors)
