abstract | - Vyacheslav Molotov was the 3rd and 5th Premier of the Soviet Union, serving from the death of Joseph Stalin to his own death in 1986. Originally Foreign Commissar, Stalin specifically willed Molotov to become Premier. Molotov presided over many crucial events in the history of the Soviet Union. Molotov was the leader who declared war on China after the Sino-Soviet Split, and on Korea, Yugoslavia, and Albania during the Purge of the Revisionists, as he called it, and saw the USSR grow to half the world's area. In 1986, the final year of Molotov's premiership, the Soviet Union announced the placement of nuclear weapons in the Pacific Canadian S.S.R, near Washington State. This incident led to, indirectly, the Dissolution of the United States. Molotov died in 1986, shortly after the dissolution of the Soviet Union's hated enemy, the United States of America. Molotov made sure that these Post-Union states would not oppose the USSR's dominant place in the world.
