Even as he gained more kills and was offered better starfighters, Inayama continued using the TIE/ln starfighters and TIE/In interceptors, due to being used to them more. He never marked them either, as a psychological effect on Rebel pilots, intending for them to think any TIE could possibly be him. By 6 ABY, he was a colonel and earned the medal Emperor's Will. That year, when Coruscant was besieged by the New Republic, he led a flight of TIEs in a kamikaze attack on an enemy cruiser, destroying it and sacrificing himself.
