Following the rise of the peaceful New Mandalorian faction in the aftermath of the Mandalorian Excision, members of Clan Priest were divided in their support of the pacifist sect and the traditional warrior clans. When Mand'alor Jango Fett was hand picking training sergeants to instruct the clone commandos of the Grand Army of the Republic, among the seventy-five Mandalorians Fett chose was Dred Priest. Priest was a violent, brutal man who abused the clone soldiers in his charge under the belief that it would toughen them. By 19 BBY, Dred Priest had joined the radical Death Watch group, together with his lover Isabet Reau. During an unexpected confrontation with fellow Mandalorian soldier Mij Gilamar in Keldabe, capital city of the planet Mandalore, Priest was killed by Gilamar due to his Death Watch affiliations. His body was subsequently dumped into the Kelita River.
