In some circles (such as the Anime Fan Fiction Mailing List), a Revenge Fic can also be about characters stepping out of the fictional realm to inflict some kind of revenge on the fanfiction author for the things he or she made them do. This can be a variety of Meta Fic, and somewhat impinges on and overlaps with the conceit of Animated Actors. If this is done by the original author, it might be Derailing Love Interests or a form of Creator Backlash. Can be closely allied to Die for Our Ship or Oh Crap There Are Fanfics of Us.
