  • Constantine Callas was born in El Centro, California on October 22, 1929. That was exactly one week before the stock market crash that caused the Great Depression. His father owned a restaurant at Four Corners in El Centro until he died in 1931 when a physician failed to perform surgery for a gallbladder condition. Callas earned a B.S. in Education at the University of Southern California in 1952. After serving two years in the Army (1952-1954), he completed his pre-medical education at University of California, Los Angeles in 1957. Callas graduated from the Medical School at the University of California, Irvine School of Medicine. He did an Internship at Los Angeles County+USC Medical Center.
