  • The Fire Lance is a siege weapon (or "siege infantry") used by the Chinese in Age of Mythology: Tale of the Dragon. Its appearance may be misleading, as the Fire Lance is neither an Archer nor an Infantry unit; It counts as both Human Unit and Siege Weapon. The only units with bonus damage against them are the Villager (+100%), Prodromos (+150%), Spearman (+100%), Raiding Cavalry (+100%) and Katapeltes (+150%).
  • Fire lance, also known as fire B, is a high damage single target move for fire mages. Its aim and use is similar to ice bolt, fire ball, and ice javelin. It is the second highest damage skill a mage has, other than Hellfire (fire D). Judgement ray (lightning D) also has the capabilities to do just as much or more damage, although lightning D can hit as many as 1 to 5 times.
  • Fire Lance is a fire-elemental attack spell usable by Sorcerers, featured in Valkyrie Profile. It may be learned with a Fire Lance spellbook. As any other spell, it can also be cast from the menu. Description: Two fire bolts are launched at the foe. Hits: 2 Charge Time: 3 Increase to Gauge: 20 x 2 = 40 Added Effect: None Multi-target (menu): No Great Magic: Calamity Blast Initial Spell: Lorenta, Gandar, Lezard A Fire Lance spellbook can be obtained in the following ways:
  • The earliest fire lances were spear-like weapons combining a bamboo tube containing gunpowder and projectiles tied to a Chinese spear. Upon firing, the charge ejected a small projectile or poison dart along with the flame. These fire lances had a range of only a few feet. Being a weapon that combines with a spear, it was initially used as a hand-to-hand weapon with the gunpowder shot designed to give the wielder an edge in close-quarter combat. Inventors soon saw the merit in the gunpowder/tube design and fire lances then appeared independent of the spear.
  • The fire lance, or fire spear, was one of the first weapons in the world to utilize a low energy mix of what was thought to be Gunpowder but in really would be considered a pyrotechnic by modern standards. The first fire lances were seen during the 10th century, but by 1260 they had been developed into a variety of forms, and were in use by many. Fire lances were cheap and powerful over many centuries, but were primitive compared to the firearms it helped pave the way for.

The weapon's range was rather limited and it was a one-shot weapon, mainly used to give its wielder an edge in close combat. In Red Alert 2: New World Order, the Fire Lance is a thermal ray gun used by Asian Alliance Firelancers. It fires a bright glowing 'wave' of thermal energy that ignites and melts any infantry unit it is focused on, one-shotting nearly any type of infantry it is used on (with the exception of the heroes, Cyborgs and Powered armor). It also temporarily disrupts electronics, allowing these infantrymen to disable enemy vehicles. Damage from the weapon on vehicles is however limited and it is entirely incapable of penetrating building armor.

Inventors soon saw the merit in the gunpowder/tube design and fire lances then appeared independent of the spear. Diagrams, illustrations and books from the 10th century show the fire lance being used in battle, but it saw the most prolific usage during early to mid Song Dynasty, when various northern peoples encroached on Chinese soil. These short-ranged, one-shot, disposable weapons were often held in racks on city walls and gave Chinese defenders a tremendous tactical and psychological advantage when fired in volleys. They were ideal for dealing with enemies trying to scale city walls, or for holding the enemy at bay behind a breached gate.
