- Shadow lord is a monster in ADOM. It is, as the name suggests, a more powerful version of a shadow and thus appears more rarely in mid and high-DL areas. While shadow lords are more powerful than simple shadows, they still pose little danger. They use Strength-draining attacks, but damage output remains rather low to effectively use this ability on the PC. They have little to none protection and relatively low HP. Shadow lords are vulnerable to undead slaying melee and missile weapons and receive 1.5x damage from blessed items.

- Shadow Lords are the generals of the Shadow Army of Menzies. They can be found leading the assaults of the Shadow Army on a few important strongholds of the Eternal army of Balthazar in the Fissure of Woe, such as the Tower of Courage and the Tower of Strength.
- The Shadow Lord is one of the unnamed Nâzguls who begins as a veiled Nazgul but can transform into different forms depending on the player's choice. The Nâzgul's powers are tied to Sauron as they do not have levels of their own but gain power and unlock new abilities as Sauron regains his power of old. Training a grants a level to Sauron only once; recruiting all 9 grants him another level.
- After his plans were thwarted and four of his Ak-Baba killed, the Shadow Lord retreated back to the Shadowlands. Although his plans failed, he still poses a threat to Deltora.
- The Enterprise has been assigned to escort Vikram, a minor member of the Angiran royal family who has been being educated in the Federation, back to his home planet. Spock and Sulu accompany Vikram to the planet to provide them with astronomical information while the Enterprise continues on to deliver medical supplies to Beta Carinae. Later, having convinced Starfleet that their actions did not violate the Prime Directive, Spock and Sulu return to the Enterprise leaving behind Federation advisers to help Vikram and Urmi arrange a fair modernization of the planet.
- Shadow Lords are a group of Demons that are the archetypical beings of their race in Earth 0. They are robed, hooded figures of pure darkness, with only a pair of red, gleaming eyes in their veiled faces presenting a change of feature. Their arms end in wide, torn sleeves, the tatters of which are apparently like claws, when the situation demands it. Their bodies likewise end in the torn bottom of their robes and they do not touch the ground, but rather hover silently. From their shoulders, black, sharp spikes emerge, like horns, three on either side, the inner pair rising above the head and the outer pairs being progressively smaller. Shadow Lords use negative energy to attack but given the setting in which they appear, they do not use Magic.
- The Shadow Lord, born as Malverlain, is the ruler of the Shadowlands and has constantly attempted to invade and rule Deltora. He is the son of Chieftain Peregrine and the Fellan, Alenan and the brother of Anoltis andEldannen. Born in Nerra, in Dorne, he was banished and, upon finding theLand of Dragons, set to conquer it. Choosing to take over Pirra, he resided in what is became known as the Shadowlands and constantly made plans to take over Deltora.

Monster Memory | - Now members of the dark undead, these shadows were formerly beings of great stature or power, called back to an existence that leaves them craving contact with living beings, whose life force provides their nourishment. These lords amongst shadows are feared even among the undead. Such is their thirst and drive for the essence of the living that nothing is safe if it prevents the shadow lord drom draining the life from a living creature.

Special Abilities | - *Phase one special attacks:
:*Giga Slash: Single target damage
:*Kick Back: Single target damage
:*Umbra Smash: Single target damage
:*Dark Nova: AOE moderate .
*Phase two special attacks: Implosion - AOE damage, wide range, wipes and bypasses Utsusemi. Was hitting THF70 for approximately 120 HP per Implosion. Implosion damage for a THF can easily be regained by spamming Bloody Bolts.
:*Implosion can be avoided by pulling the Shadow Lord up the short staircase, and having lower level players and mages stand near the bottom of the stairs. Mages can continue to cast on the Shadow Lord or tanks/melee, as they will still be within range of them, but Implosion will be blocked by the difference in elevation.
:*Implosion can be Stunned , but you will want to keep dishing out damage. Consider Stunning Implosion every now and then rather than every time to maintain damage output. Note that Stun must hit before the animation/sound FX begin. Implosion has a long animation, so it is easy to mistakenly attempt to stun after it has begun.

Passive Traits | - *Starting from approximately 50% health, the Shadow Lord will become immune to either physical damage or magical damage/spells. The immunity switches after it takes a certain amount of damage. The current immunity is indicated by the Shadow Lord's stance and behavior, and will end upon defeat of the first form:
:*it is immune to physical attacks when its sword is glowing and it is attacking physically
:*it is immune to magic when it is holding out a glowing fist and attacking only with magic.
|
Further Notes | - *There is no opportunity for your party to rest or recover between the two phases; upon the first phase's defeat and a short cutscene, the second phase will attack your party immediately.
*A Samurai of at least level 65+ using Sekkanoki and Meikyo Shisui will cause sufficient damage to defeat the second form.
*Upon the second form reaching 0 HP, he will stay alive for approximately 15 more seconds . It will appear to be executing another Implosion, but the animation will differ slightly and it will not damage the party. The animation will then end with the Shadow Lord's defeat.
* Killable by 6 level 50 players, although it is recommended to be 55+.

When they arrive, the trio discover that the emperor's plans for modernization have caused widespread discontent: many of the population are forced to work in dangerous factories, there is wide-scale pollution and the new taxes have left many on the verge of starvation. Lord Rahu, an old rival of Vikram, stages a coup, wiping out most of the royal family and leaving Vikram as heir apparent, but Spock, Sulu and Vikram manage to escape the palace in the company of Urmi, the niece of Vikram's servant Bibil, who is killed aiding their escape. The group makes for Urmi's home village of Guh but Spock is wounded in an attack by bandits led by the disinherited Lord Tayu. When the villagers attempt to hold them prisoner, resentful of the emperor, the others are forced to leave Spock behind with Urmi's grandfather Pagu. The pair are then captured by Lord Bhima, a swordmaster and former mentor of Vikram who has reluctantly agreed to serve Rahu. Sulu, Vikram and Urmi reach Vikram's family's fortress at Kotah and, despite the Council of Elders trying to hold on to power for themselves, Vikram is able to convince the people to fight for him and form an army. They engage Rahu's forces and manage to wipe out his swordsmen with volley fire, with Sulu briefly taking charge of the field when Vikram is knocked unconscious. With his army in flight, Rahu attempts to escape by holding Spock and Pagu hostage. Vikram challenges him to a duel instead but Rahu instructs Bhima to fight in his place and Vikram mortally wounds him with a trick he learned from Sulu. Rahu orders his remaining follower to kill Vikram but Bhima takes the arrow instead and Rahu is killed by Vikram's men. Later, having convinced Starfleet that their actions did not violate the Prime Directive, Spock and Sulu return to the Enterprise leaving behind Federation advisers to help Vikram and Urmi arrange a fair modernization of the planet.
