However, Norman was unable to handle the sheer power required to control Rayquaza, and his heart gave out as a result. After Norman's death, Rayquaza flew away from the battle. It was this same Rayquaza that Norman had been hunting for seven years.
- Norman sent Sawsbuck to crash a door.
- Norman's Poochyena, nicknamed "Nana", was given to Ruby when he was very young. It evolved alongside Ruby's Skitty during their time at Granite Cave.
- Flygon served as Norman's main mode of transportation, as it was used to take Norman to the Gym Leader Examination in the past. Norman gave his Flygon to Wally shortly after he had completed his training.
- Norman and Ruby flew on Staraptor to catch up with Rayquaza.
- Norman's Slakoth were used primarily to attack Rayquaza seven years ago, in an attempt to capture it. They were considerably agile, as both Slakoth were able to dodge Rayquaza's onslaught with ease.
- Norman's Skitty, nicknamed "Kiki", was given to Ruby when he was very young. It evolved into a Delcatty alongside Ruby's Poochyena during their time at Granite Cave.
- Slaking is Norman's powerhouse Pokémon, and is used twice in the battles against his son, Ruby. It was also used in Norman's battle with Wally at the Sky Pillar, where its signature technique Truant was able to allow it to evade Wally's Spinda's attacks.
- Spinda was used primarily when Norman resolved himself to train Wally.
- Vigoroth was used by Norman briefly, when he attacked a Breloom that emerged from the undergrowth to attack them.
