| abstract | - The Freedom Fighter Special lands in the Great Forest just in time for the Freedom Fighters to watch King Maximillian Acorn lead the soldiers of the Kingdom of Knothole on a mission to attack Dr. Eggman's fortress in Robotropolis. Sonic and Sally ask what happened and the king explains that Prince Elias sneaked his way into Robotropolis to find a cure for Queen Alicia's illness. He managed to pass the cure to Mina Mongoose before he was captured by Eggman's Shadowbots. Only now learning that her mother's condition was worsening, Sally yells at her father and leaves in a huff. Sonic tries to calm her down, but Geoffrey St. John pulls him aside, asking him to help the Secret Service rescue Elias. In Robotropolis, Elias sits in his cell quietly. He asks Sir Charles if he would consider letting him go, but the brainwashed Robian only wishes to Roboticize the prince for his master. In Knothole, King Max tells Antoine that he can not remain in active duty due to his broken leg. Antoine is flustered, but Bunnie consoles him by sitting out the mission as well. Sonic greets his parents briefly before heading out on the mission with Tails and Geoffrey. Before they can leave, Amy tells them that Sally wants to see them. As doctors prepare to operate on Queen Alicia, Sally asks Sonic to protect her father and charges Geoffrey with protecting her brother. Sonic hesitates, wanting to comfort her, but heads into battle. "Family Matters" - Chapter Two The kingdom's troops infiltrate Robotropolis. Tails uses Bomb to blow open Eggman's headquarters and the king, Geoffrey and Sonic rush inside. A horde of Shadowbots appear to intercept them, nearly hitting the king with a laser. Sonic suggests that the king stand back while the Secret Service handles the robots. Meanwhile, Sir Charles gives the order for Elias to be taken to the Roboticizer. Sonic keeps trying to convince the king that he shouldn't be fighting the robots directly when Charles sends them a holographic message, showing them that Elias is about to be Roboticized. Back in Knothole, Antoine and Bunnie ask Sally if they can take a leave of absence to confront the High Sheriff in Mercia. Amy overhears this and asks if she can go as well, having been born in Mercia and knowing that her cousin, Rob o' the Hedge, lives there. Sally allows them to head off on their journey, sobbing as they leave. Sonic, the king and the Secret Service make their way to the Roboticization Chamber, managing to save Elias. As the king prepares to fight Sir Charles and Muttski with the Sword of Acorns, his foes appear to come back to their senses. A Shadowbot activates a revolving door, locking Charles and Muttski out of the group's reach. While Sonic is distracted with trying to breach this door, the robot then punches the king in the back of the head. Furious, Sonic lashes out, beating the Shadowbot to pieces. Crestfallen after losing his uncle once again and failing to protect the king, Sonic heads to Knothole and asks Doctor Quack for help.
