  • Special Attacks are very powerful moves from Kid Icarus: Uprising that can only be used in Air Battles. They attack all enemies on screen, no matter how far away, and also cancel out enemy attacks. It appears as a small blue orb at the bottom left corner of the touchscreen. The player always begins each mission with one Special Attack orb. An empty orb slowly fills up over time, filling quicker when meleeing enemies. Special Attacks can be activated by tapping the orbs. The player can have up to two orbs at a time. Each weapon type has a different animation.
  • Special Attacks were learned as the character levelled up; each character had five Special Attacks; a standing Combo, a mid-air combo, an lift attack, a mid-air lift attack and telekinetic stasis attack
  • User has special abilities can utilize them into their own special form of attack. In some cases the user mostly names their attacks and classifies them on strength, power, and sometimes requirements.
  • In the Evolution of Combat system, each special attack requires a certain amount of adrenaline to use, which is also consumed on use. For example, the Korasi's sword special attack, Disrupt, may only be used at 60% adrenaline, and once it is used, 60% adrenaline is drained. There are no cooldowns on using special attacks. In the Combat Improvements Beta, using special attacks would result in reduced adrenaline gain for 1 minute.
  • Special attacks have an energy bar that is drained when you use the attack; this is drained of varying amounts according to which weapon is used. The special energy bar regenerates at a rate of 5% every 15 seconds, or five (5) minutes to regenerate from empty to full. The bar will not regenerate while a player is logged out, nor will it regenerate if a player has their bank window open. The special attack bar also does not regenerate on death or upon exiting the Clan Wars portal. However, the Elidinis Statuette at Nardah, a restoration pool or higher in player-owned houses, and exiting a Nightmare Zone dream fully restore special attack energy.

The energy bar is related to the player, not to the weapon - in other words, changing weapons does not change the special energy bar. While players are the most common users of special attacks, NPCs are known to use them too. The stranger that may be encountered during Desert Treasure is capable of using his dragon dagger's special attack. He does not seem to be limited by a special attack bar and can even unleash consecutive special attacks per game tick.
