| abstract | - The Norkan outposts were a series of outposts destroyed by Romulan forces, commanded by Admiral Alidar Jarok, in the Norkan Campaign. The Federation decried the attacks as a massacre. (TNG: "The Defector" ) According to the Star Trek Encyclopedia (4th ed., vol. 2, p. 87) , the outposts were located near the Romulan Neutral Zone. According to Star Trek: Star Charts (p. 66, "United Federation of Planets I") and Stellar Cartography: The Starfleet Reference Library ("Stellar Cartography", pp. 18-19; "Federation Historical Highlights, 2161-2385”), there was a star system named Norkan (Pi Hydrae), in which these colonies might possibly have been located, in the Beta Quadrant. The system's primary was a K-class star. In 2378, the Norkan outposts were listed as a Federation member.
- The Norkan outposts were a number of outposts built near the Romulan Star Empire. When no Romulan invasion occurred the importance of the outposts waned. Years after they were constructed they were destroyed during the brief Norkan Campaign. (TNG: "The Defector")
