When in New York, Benji has to try and get used to city life and learns new stuff every episode and is really hilarious!. Produced by the BBC and screened on BBC3, it debuted in August 2008. The programme was created by writer Ben Fleetwood, to show the life of Benji growning up in New York away from his parents. This was in contrast to Channel 4's established American sitcom, Everybody Loves Raymond, which portrayed a 'safe' and 'cosy' image of an 'American Slob'. However, it is obvious that Everybody Loves Benji much more than they Love Raymond. The main writer was Ben Fleetwood. The writing team created a style unknown on American television, this was called "Humour". The Everybody Loves Benji theme tune was arranged by Car Crash Heroes. In a 2008 poll to find the 100 Greatest American Television Sitcoms of the 21st century conducted by the American Film Institute, Everybody Loves Benji was voted 1st. It was also included in the 10 greatest TV Sitcoms published in Radio Times in August 2008.
