  • Celery is a food that can be purchased from shops and stalls in Fable II and Fable III. Celery is the only food in Fable II that will make you thinner. Depending on which type of celery you purchase, eating it may give or take away purity points. In Fable III, it will make you lose weight and gain morality points depending on the quality of celery you eat.
  • Celery is a green plant, the roots of which can be eaten as food. Zachary Smith was transformed into celery while on Tybo's planet. Willoughby enjoyed eating Smith's leaves. ("The Great Vegetable Rebellion")
  • In 2151, celery was among the vegetables in a salad T'Pol ate with a knife and a fork. (ENT: "The Andorian Incident") When the replicators in the mess hall of Voyager had trouble replicating items with high levels of cellulose in 2372, Neelix mentioned that it was causing celery to be replicated with a yellowish hue. (VOY: "Deadlock") Naomi Wildman planned to use carrots and celery to build a tetragon, an assignment given to her by Seven of Nine in 2376. (VOY: "Memorial")

  • In the Middle Ages, celery spread throughout Europe and later along the Silk Road to the new worlds of the Orient. By the 16th century the Japanese were the world's leading exporters of celery resin, a green powdered substance obtained through grinding the wild plant and mixing with equal parts of sand. This was referred to as emerald meth. The export of emerald meth to the West became the prime source of wealth amongst the Japanese shoguns of the time, who became rich from their green gold.
  • Celery and celeriac can be eaten raw or cooked. Celery can be frozen but freezing it changes the flavour.
  • It can also be eaten, apparently. Absolutely disgusting. As all American kids know, celery tastes better with peanut butter, as long as you use so much peanut butter you can't taste the celery. If the Brits had learned this, they'd still have their empire.
  • Celery consists of long, slender green stalks that surround a pale green central "heart", all joined at the bulbous base. Crisp, fresh raw celery enlivens salads and snacks, while cooked celery adds delicate texture to soups, stews, and stocks. The leaves, trimmed from the stalks, can be reserved to flavor stocks. Select moist, rigid stalks and store in a plastic bag in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks. Dried celery seeds are used whole as a seasoning.
  • The Celery is a vegetable seed in FarmVille. It can be planted at level 106 and takes 1 day to grow. It costs and can be harvested for . It yields File:XP-icon.png experience when planted. It was released on September 17, 2012.
  • Although a later incarnation of the Doctor later referred to the celery as a "decorative vegetable", (TV: Time Crash) the celery also served at least two practical purposes. The Fifth Doctor once used the leafy part to test airflow in the Tractator-made tunnels of Frontios. Because the leaf was especially light, it would have indicated which way the air was flowing — had there actually been any circulation in those caverns. (TV: Frontios)

  • The plant was transplanted to the planet Sphinx, where treecats developed a taste for it. Sphinxian celery had been genetically modified and in doing so produced a chemical related to one found in a native Sphinxian plant. The original genetic modifications were developed by Dr. Marjorie Harrington. (HH1, SK1) With the introduction of treecat signing, the Sphinx variant of celery was revealed to act as a telepathy/empathy "vitamin", far more effective (and tastier) than the native Sphinxian plant which had been known and valued by treecats as far back as their memories went. Treecats adored celery in any form, even though they were effectively unable to digest it. It was the low level theft of celery that led to the discovery of the treecats by Stephanie Harrington. In 1903 PD, Elaine Mayhew fed Nimitz celery during a dinner at Mayhew Steading on Grayson. (HH2) In 1904 PD, Nimitz was fed some celery when he boarded the HMS Nike. (HH3) According to Honor Harrington, after interviews with Nimitz and Samantha on how much treecats like celery: "Think of the most chocolate-addicted human being you've ever met, then cube her craving, and you'll start closing in on just how much they love it." (HH10) The treecats themselves called celery "cluster stalk". (HHA1.1: ABF)

The Fifth Doctor once used the leafy part to test airflow in the Tractator-made tunnels of Frontios. Because the leaf was especially light, it would have indicated which way the air was flowing — had there actually been any circulation in those caverns. (TV: Frontios) However, the main use was medicinal. The Fifth Doctor claimed to be allergic to certain gases in the Praxis range of the spectrum. Celery, he said, would turn purple in the presence of such gases. In that case, he would eat the celery; if nothing else, he said, at least it would be good for his teeth. The Doctor apparently also believed the celery to possess some restorative ability, as he attempted to revive a dying Peri by having her smell the celery. Her human olfactory sense did not suffice for the plant to help her. (TV: The Caves of Androzani) Centuries later, the Eleventh Doctor asked for celery while being physically tortured by Silurians, seemingly confirming its beneficial effects on his anatomy. (TV: The Hungry Earth) Peri Brown once found herself in a dimension modelled upon a combination of the Alice in Wonderland book she had been reading and the salad she had been eating. Among the creatures she met in this world was a talking stalk of celery. (COMIC: Salad Daze) After the Sixth Doctor fainted because of a time-slip with the Second Doctor, she offered him celery to feel better. (TV: The Two Doctors) In Belgium in 800, the Tenth Doctor, who had been mistaken for Charlemagne's food taster, detected the smell of celery in some soup — much to his disgust, as he claimed he had never liked celery. (PROSE: The Lonely Computer) When the Eleventh Doctor had been captured by the Silurians, Malohkeh attempted to decontaminate him of the "human bacteria", the side effect of which process actually harmed the Doctor. After pleading with the Silurian doctor that he was "not ape", Malokeh stopped the decontamination process. After taking a couple of breaths, the Doctor said "That's much better, thanks. Not got any celery have you?" (TV: Cold Blood)
