Básicamente la propuesta del juego es permitir combates en tres dimensiones, con una mejor ambientación, sonido, animaciones e incluso comentaristas, debido a que las limitaciones del momento no permitían mejorar estos aspectos en las videoconsolas portatiles, al igual que su anterior entrega, aunque esta vez teniendo en cuenta los cambios realizados en la segunda generación de la saga.
