He introduced Sonic to his wife Gladys (who seemed slightly disappointed that Sonic had saved her husband) and showed him all of the D.I.Y. improvements that he had made to the house. He also introduced Sonic to his "Robot Butler", in fact an old Trooper robot that Roger had rebuilt from scrap and reprogrammed into a tea-maker. The Butler-Trooper's programming was so mixed up that it attacked Sonic, then offered him a cup of tea, and finally self-destructed, destroying the Bodges' house. Sonic suggested that Bodge should avoid D.I.Y. from now on, but Roger did not take this advice to heart. A while later, Roger converted a toilet into a small helicopter, which Tails used to battle Windy Wallis, but this fell apart too. In 1998, Roger entered Enviro-Fete '98, an exhibition for new inventions that are friendly to the environment. Roger presented a self-warming bath that would allow people to bathe in the same water every day. Roger believed this would save on water and seemed confused by the disgust of the judges towards his mouldy green bathwater.

With Tails' bi-plane clamped, the fox had no choice but to accept Bodge's invitation to use the helicopter to defeat Windy Wallis. Unfortunately, the helicopter fell apart after briefly being subjected to a snow flurry and Bodge was nowhere to be seen once Tails returned to land. Roger's last outing was during Enviro-Fete '98, a competition to reveal inventions designed to help the environment. Bodge's offering was his Self-Warming Bath, a bath strapped to a radiator, which allows you to use the same water to bathe in every day. Although Bodge intended to save water with this creation, it still made the judges feel sick.
