  • King Solomon built the first Jewish Temple in Jerusalem, which I believe was destroyed when Judea was conquered by the Babylonian Empire. The Second Temple was built in the time of Ezra and Nehemiah, and expanded in the time of King Herod. The second temple was destroyed in the Great Jewish Revolt, c. 70 AD. Jerusalem is also used in a poetic context to refer to the nation of Israel, or to the Jewish people. The end of Revelations speaks of a New Jerusalem to come.

  • Jerusalem was the capital city of the united kingdom of Israel for seventy-three years. After that it was the seat of government for the Davidic dynasty of the nation of Judah. It is one of the Bible's most notable cities, being the center for a multitude of events; it existed as early as the Intracity war of Abraham's time. Jerusalem served as a very important location for the nation of Israel, not only as its capital, but as the location of the Temple, the only place worship was allowed. Jerusalem became the seat of power for the land of Israel during the time of King David. David drove the Jebusites out of Jerusalem and it became known as the City of David. After David, all of the kings of Israel reigned in Jerusalem. David's son, Solomon, built the Temple in Jerusalem, which was later destroyed, rebuilt, and destroyed again. In 701 BC the Assyrians besieged Jerusalem. But, through the prayers of King Hezekiah and the prophet Isaiah, an Angel of the Lord saved the city. In 586 BC the city was conquered and the Temple was destroyed by Nebuchadnezzar and the Babylonian army. After the Persians defeated Babylon, some of the Jews who had been taken as captives by the Babylonians were able to return to Jerusalem and to rebuild the Temple. Jerusalem again became the capital of the land of Israel during the Hasmonean period, until 63 BC when the Romans occupied the city. Herod the Great, a Roman vassal, rebuilt the city and reconstructed the Temple. Jesus visited and preached in the city, and was crucified outside its gates. After the death of Jesus, the city became holy to the Christians. The Romans destroyed the city and the Temple in AD 70.

  • Jerusalem was started by Owenstine at first, in a faction actually called Jerusalem. He advertised it as an embassy city and though the WBC built an embassy there, along with Saxony, Rhodesia, and technically NSDAP, the city began to falter. Owenstine recruited the server's assorted loners, including Linkedyn, the last Roman to refuse assimilation into a larger faction. They soon moved out into the ocean to a new base called Teuton, leaving Jerusalem to be slowly swallowed by neglect. Saxony's embassy was lost to time, Rhodesia quit, and NSDAP's embassy was literally just a tunnel in front of Saxony's embassy for no reason. Bgbba, not liking to see neglect happen to such a good project, soon took over running Jerusalem, claiming massive portions of land and protecting the city as he slowly built the walls that surround it today. During this time, AdrenalineON used ghast eggs and tnt cannons to blow the city up six different times. In fact, it became such a regular occurence that bgbba started keeping track of how long the place could go without being blown up. The revival began with the peace with NSDAP after NSDAP's raid over Rotor's head in the WBC vault. Rotor built a shop for Saxony in the city and one day, bgbba advertised the city to the other factions that still existed on the server. The city bloomed again, with NSDAP building a real embassy, the WBC building an entire district for themselves, Meikelland and Bavaria claiming embassies, and Eaiix making his bow shop. NBP joined in the fun soon enough, building an embassy for themselves and even Targaryens took over Rotor's old shop, which was abandoned after he left Saxony. This was the point the city was at during the Templr War and the First World War. After this, bgbba expanded the city to compensate for Miloxydian's embassy and the lack of room in the city proper. This was filled with a museum to the Templr War and bgbba's new server library, though that didn't really pan out well enough. Carinthir and Blood8815 (Aka Sebek) hollowed out the central area as a market district and Deathpath1 helped blood8815 build an arena. The faction bankers soon joined in and began to built their empire in the market district while Bavaria slowly crumbled. In addition to the bank, the city now hosts GiovanniVerdura's private order of Holy Knights, whom helped to raid the NSDAP embassy and kill AdrenalineON and JumboG in the twilight of Adren's days before he was banned for crymes and destroyed by Englavian. After all of this, the server entered a period of unprecedented peace. NSDAP was no longer harassing smaller factions and threatening the playerbase, the situation had brought together all of the remaining relevant factions, and upstart bandit grounds like Barbarians, Chaos, and Antigoyim were quiet or became disbanded. Englavian, now fully realizing the value of property in jerusalem, began to further corner the real estate market. He began an enourmous feat; flattening the entire mountain of western jerusalem. Claiming all of it, he hopes to sell it all off once flattened and decorated as property within the "Riverside District". Will the jew come to control the housing market of Jerusalem and sink his yiddish fingers into the Jerusalem economy? (Probably not, because he ended up giving all of the property away). The city was expanded again with the creation of a large Southern District.

  • It was built over the location of the older city of King Hezekiah, north of the Pool of Siloam. It was also where the location where Christ was crucified. During the Crusade, Jerusalem was besieged by Christians, Greeks and Syrians joined in the assault. Count Raymund, Duke Godefrey, also Robert Count of Normandy and Robert of Flanders were there. They built a siege tower of small pieces of wood and attacked with catapults and other contraptions and daring soldiers laucned stones and arrows from the siege tower. The Saracens within hurled from their slings torches and flaming brands soaked in oil and fat and thus many died upon both sides. By noon the day dedicated to Venus, the walls were breached and taken. Franks and others poured in and pursued the Saracens so that the enemy were driven to take refuge inside the holy places. Within the Temple of Solomon, 10,000 Saracens were decapitated. Not a soul was spared, neither the women nor children. The squires and poorest soldiers slit the bellies to search for jewels that had been swallowed, then burned the bodies to thus search in the ashes for coins. After the massacre, the Crusaders sacked the homes and took whatever they found there, rich or poor. However, Count Raymund allowed Turks, Arabs and some 500 dark Ethiopians who had taken refuge in the Temple of David to depart alive, after leaving all their money within the citadel. During the Third Crusade, King Richard the Lionheart sailed across the sea to defend Jerusalem, besieging the infidels, the battles were bloody, and the city was ultimately lost. Richard was forced to make a long journey home, where he was captured in Austria by King Leopold's forces.

  • Jerusalem (Hebrew: יְרוּשָׁלַיִם‎ File:Loudspeaker.svg (audio)(help·info), Yerushaláyim, lit. "Teaching of Peace"; Arabic: القُدس File:Loudspeaker.svg (audio)(help·info), al-Quds, lit. "The Holy"; Yiddish: ירושלים) is the capital of Israel and, if including the area and population of occupied East Jerusalem, its largest city in both population and area, with a population of 763,800 residents over an area of km2 ( sq mi). Located in the Judean Mountains, between the Mediterranean Sea and the northern edge of the Dead Sea, modern Jerusalem has grown far beyond the boundaries of the Old City. The city has a history that goes back to the 4th millennium BCE, making it one of the oldest cities in the world. Jerusalem is the holiest city in Judaism and Christianity and has been the spiritual center of the Jewish people since c. 1000 BCE, when David the King of Israel first established it as the capital of the Jewish Nation, and his son Solomon commissioned the building of the First Temple in the city. Jerusalem contains a number of significant Christian sites, and although it is never mentioned explicitly in the Qur'an, Islam regards Jerusalem as its third-holiest city. Despite having an area of only 0.9 square kilometer (0.35 square mile), the Old City is home to sites of key religious importance, among them the Temple Mount, the Western Wall, the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, the Dome of the Rock and al-Aqsa Mosque. The old walled city, a World Heritage site, has been traditionally divided into four quarters, although the names used today—the Armenian, Christian, Jewish, and Muslim Quarters—were introduced in the early 19th century. The Old City was nominated for inclusion on the List of World Heritage Sites in danger by Jordan in 1982. In the course of its history, Jerusalem has been destroyed twice, besieged 23 times, attacked 52 times, and captured and recaptured 44 times. Today, the status of Jerusalem remains one of the core issues in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Israel's annexation of East Jerusalem has been repeatedly criticized by the United Nations and related bodies, and Palestinians demand East Jerusalem as the capital of their future state. In the wake of United Nations Security Council Resolution 478 (passed in 1980), most foreign embassies moved out of Jerusalem, although some countries, such as the United States, still own land in the city and pledge to return their embassies once political agreements warrant the move.
  • It appeared in both the Saladin and Barbarossa campaigns. Its civilization was always the Byzantines, and was represented by the color Blue in most of the campaigns, except in the The Lion and the Demon scenario of the Saladin campaign, (where it appeared as a crusader state rather than a city) it was represented by the Grey color, as the Blue was taken by the Franks, in that same scenario. The city is well fortified, with keeps, bombard towers and castles. It has well planned roads, many houses, and has many monasteries. In every scenario it is present in (As a city), the Dome of the Rock is present, and the objectives are usually centered around it. Near the Dome of the Rock, a special type of trees was always used, and lakes were usually placed across the city.
