  • A blast door is a type of door. It is an important safety lock for UNSC ships. Blast Doors are similar to airlocks in that they are used to seal off areas experiencing, or have a strong possibility of experiencing a breach and loss of atmosphere. They are distinguished by their interlocking sections that rise from the floor, and drop from the ceiling. The Blast Doors have large panels of what seem to be high-strength plexi-glass, since it can resist blasts of plasma from the handheld Plasma Rifle.
  • When the Trade Federation blockaded the planet Naboo, blast doors were used aboard their Droid Control Ships. During the Clone Wars, the Rishi Station on the Rishi moon had blast doors that were infiltrated by the Separatist Alliance in a short battle. On a massive space station known as the Death Star—during the reign of the Galactic Empire—blast doors were used to secure the station's hangar bays.
  • When Samus enters the room for the first time, the doors close as the Space Pirates discover her presence in their mining facility. A Pirate Trooper ends up stuck behind it and most likely escapes into the base. The Blast Doors block access to the major areas of the base. After dealing with the Pirates that ambush her, Samus must enter the control booth of the Command Center, through Security Station B. Here, she can scan an Interface Module, which will lift the doors. It will also jam the control and security systems in the door, leaving it permanently open.
