  • Heinrich Hörner was the presumed founder of a German company called Heinrich Hörner Aktiengesellschaft that dug out a huge mining site under the pyramids at Meroë, Sudan in 1923. Although little is known about Hörner himself, the mining site, which the company named König Salomons Grube (King Solomon's Mines), was seemingly abandoned sometime long before 1947. During that year, Indiana Jones was exploring the area when he discovered the skeleton of Hörner himself, unburied and face-up in a ravine near the mine's entrance. The skeleton was clothed in a beige safari uniform and a pith helmet. A silver-colored pocket watch was found near the remains, inscribed with Hörner's name.
