  • Murray (Minstrel)
rdfs:comment
  • Murray, a Minstrel, plays the guitar as he follows Cantus on a spiritual journey throughout Fraggle Rock. Murray tends to be fairly direct and down-to-earth, in contrast to Cantus' philosophical mysteriousness. He first appeared in the Fraggle Rock episode "The Minstrels" and was performed by Steve Whitmire, except in "The Honk of Honks," where he was performed by Gord Robertson (although audio from Let Me Be Your Song with Whitmire singing was used when the Minstrels entered). Murray also makes a cameo in Muppet Treasure Island as one of the pirates that attacks The Admiral Benbow Inn.

The puppet used for Murray was repurposed in several non-Fraggle productions. In Mopatop's Shop, Murray appeared as Mr. Seed in the episode "The Seed," Gloop in "Flowers," Ms. Trekker in "No Sea," Dotty Monster in "Warm Snow," and Brian from "Hair! Hair! Everywhere!" Murray appears alongside Mudwell the Mudbunny and Begoony in The Muppet Christmas Carol. He and Mudwell are depicted as parents with Begoony as their child. Murray also makes a cameo in Muppet Treasure Island as one of the pirates that attacks The Admiral Benbow Inn. Murray also appears on the cover of the book Kermit Learns Windows.
