  • Tzekel-Kan is the high priest of the hidden city El Dorado who awaits the coming of the Age of the Jaguar where he hopes to purge the denizens of his society of those he considers unworthy. After the arrival of the "gods" Tulio and Miguel as well as their servants, he would be met by his fellow "holy man" and sorcerer Rasputin who thinks he could be a suitable recruit to his group. Rasputin puts forward the idea that the visitors are charlatans which Tzekel-Kan decides to test. He ultimately sacrifices his chief Acolyte in order to bring to life a giant stone jaguar to use to destroy the fake gods and purge the city. (Rasputin watching over what happens, and admitting being impressed with his spell to bring the statue to life. Something that would inspire him later.) Tzekel-Kan battles the heroes but is defeated and sent down into the sacrificial pit. Sending him into the jungle outside the city where he'd meet the Spanish conquistador Cortes and come to believe he is the true god. Deciding to lead him to El Dorado. But the city is sealed off by the time they arrive, leading to Cortes thinking Tzekel-Kan is a liar and then has him ordered to be imprisoned and then enslaved. As he's dragged away he can see Rasputin watching and tries pleading for help. But he only shakes his head in disappointment as he leaves him behind.
