Biography
  • David Simko is a former NASCAR driver from Clarkston, MI. He competed in ten Sprint Cup Series events in his career as well as one Nationwide Series event. Sprint Cup Simko's debut came during the 1982 season, when he competed at Michigan. It was a rather rough entrance into the sport, as Simko quickly crashed to a last place finish . Nor did Simko fare better later in the year at his native Michigan International Speedway, blowing an engine to finish 29th. Simko's next race came during the 1983 season, when he competed at Atlanta. Unfortunately, a change in venue did not mean a change in luck, as Simko blew an engine and finished 37th. Simko's next race came during the 1984 season, when Simko turned his attention back to Michigan. Simko finally had a respectable race, running from a last place start to a 27th place finish, only running eleven laps behind the pace. Simko would also finish in 27th during his lone 1986 season, starting 35th and completing all but thirty laps in the August Michigan race to wind up there. Simko stepped his schedule up to a four-race deal for the 1987 season, recording a 57th place finish in the year-end points. He started off well, finishing a career-best 26th in the June Michigan race. But after that, Simko's season crumbled. Three straight mechanical DNFs left Simko 28th at Michigan in August, 30th at Dover, and 35th at Rockingham. As a result, Simko only made one more start during this career, competing again at Michigan during the 1988 season. It was just another horrible race for the driver, completing nine laps before an engine failure left him in 40th. Nationwide Simko's lone Nationwide start would come during the 1985 season, when he competed at ORP. Starting 27th in the field of thirty, Simko only made it up to 24th place by the end of the night due to an engine issue. External Links *Stats
