Nabi Rubin is named after a shrine in the village, believed by Muslims to be the tomb of Reuben. In Sami Hadawi's 1945 land and population survey, Nabi Rubin had a population of 1,420 inhabitants and a total land area of 31,002 dunams, of which 683 were planted with citrus trees with no built-up area.
