  • Daedalus is a character from Hercules: The Animated Series. He is the son of Athena and is the creator of the Labyrinth. A great inventor, he is the father of Icarus, who refers to him as "Dadalus", and the shop teacher at Prometheus Academy. His brilliance is matched only by his own ego and eccentric behavior, which causes him to get along poorly with others. He has a very poor relationship with his son's friend Hercules, due to his clumsy and poor performance when it comes to building things.
  • Daedalus is a flight instructor teaching Daevas how to fly in Eltnen Fortress. He is very passionate about flying.
  • Daedalus was a great inventor. He is perhaps best-known for building a set of wings which would allow a human to fly like a bird. His son, Icarus, died while flying with these wings. After that, Daedalus began inventing weapons for King Nikolos of Euboa until Hercules convinced him to stop (HTLJ "Doomsday"). Later, Daedalus testified in defense of Hercules when he was being tried for alleged crimes against the people he helped save (HTLJ "Hercules on Trial").
  • Dade "Daedalus" Hereti, the son of Hereti-Corp founder Steve Hereti, was for a long time the leader of Hereti-Corp following his hostile takeover of the company in the mid 1990's. His face has never been seen, because he has a strict policy that his "Evil Room" be kept completely dark, on pain of death. As such, all that is known about his appearance is that he has black hair and is Caucasian. He managed to escape the law after Hereti-Corp fell, and worked up his way to become a high-ranking Burger Meister executive before reforming his company. Soon after the new rise of the company, it was taken over by Dr. Schlock, who fired Daedalus and had him thrown into a cell.

  • Deadalus built the Labyrinth in Crete at the behest of King Minos to contain the Minotaur which was eventually slain by Theseus. Deadalus was imprisoned to stop him revealing the secrets of the Labyrinth. In order to escape the island, he created wings out of discarded feathers and wax. He made one set for himself and another for his son, Icarus and taught Icarus how to fly. Having warned his son not to fly to close to the sun as it might melt the wax or too close to the sea as it would soak the feathers, the pair flew away from their prison. However, Icarus ignored his fathers warnings and died as a result.

The entire airship can barely fit into the arena of the Grand Coluseeum near Aphetto. The ship rests on four clawed feet so that the shallow keel does not plow into the ground during landing and take-off procedures. Details about the figurehead of the wyvren is covered by a fitting Peregrin Mask, of which the influence of the large artifact actually makes the figurehead and fore-castle want to drift off of the ground.
  • His parentage was supplied as a later addition to the mythos, providing him with a father in either Metion, Eupalamus or Palamaon, and a mother, either Alcippe, Athena, Iphinoe or Phrasimede. Daedalus had two sons: Icarus and Iapyx, along with a nephew, whose name was Perdix.
  • The AI that would later be known as "Daedalus" was conceived by the brilliant mind of Morgan Everett, the acting leader of the Illuminati by 2052. This advisor would have the ability to sift through huge amounts of data to predict disasters - both natural and man-made - and to make plans to prevent them, which the Illuminati could then choose to either ignore or execute.

House Van Dyre also joined the Exploratory vessels in an attempt to reclaim their lost glory. The Arks came across Metion - a Gas Giant and it's largest moon - Daedalus. The relatively small planet took the Explorators interest and they began settling and building up the barren world. • Dade "Daedalus" Hereti, the son of Hereti-Corp founder Steve Hereti, was for a long time the leader of Hereti-Corp following his hostile takeover of the company in the mid 1990's. House Van Dyre also joined the Exploratory vessels in an attempt to reclaim their lost glory. The Arks came across Metion - a Gas Giant and it's largest moon - Daedalus. The relatively small planet took the Explorators interest and they began settling and building up the barren world. With the insurmountable experience of the Mechanicus and help from House Van Dyre, who set up on a nearby lush world of Sanct-Solum, the moon quickly became a prominent industry world of the Imperium. Daedalus soon established itself as one of the dominant forces in Argus Cluster and began building their armies in the form of their own Skitarii Legions and a Titan Legion. The Mechanicus made contact with nearby Hive Worlds and established trade routes as well as defensive alliances with the Noble Houses of these Hive Worlds. Due to its location close to a Gas Giant, an Agri-World and access to several mining and factory worlds, Daedalus became the centre of industry and arms manufacturing of the entire Argus Cluster.

  • The Daedalus is Kraer Kulnoth's airship. The airship looks mainly like an oversized wyvren made mainly out of wood. The bulk of the weight of this construct is carried by two identical wings; beams of wood that can rotate at 45 degrees to the sides of the ship and the actual membranes of each wing is outfitted with an equal-sized Neurok Hoversail apiece. The main hull is overlain with Mizzium to reinforce the hull and to protect it from most forms of physical harm. The top deck is not reinforced in this manner, since those that are abroad the ship can run about and use their skills to protect that vulnerable area. The top-half of the wyvrens's head rises above the deck itself, and one can take refuge there if caught out in violent weather. Near each wing, there is a set of stairs which leads below the main deck to a system of hallways that lead around the interior of the ship. Inside the hull, and under each wing, is a set of rebuilt Thran Turbines that can provide the energy needed to position each wing. The controls are centred at a cabin-like structure that sits at the aft-end of the main deck, as well as the wheel to steer the vessel. Each Hoversail is crafted so that it gives forward momentum as well as lift to the main body of the craft, and the headpiece works to keep the front end up. All in all, this Airship cannot move at a fast clip, but glides along smoothly. No jet lag here at all. On each side of the ship is a slot about midsection, in front of the wings, that has retractable planks that seven students can walk abreast upon to board the ship. A secondary deck sits below the main one with enough headroom to accommodate a small church, but the steeple might poke a hole through the ceiling. This secondary deck is more of a gathering hall for dinners and parties alike. Several crystalline chandeliers give off a cosy amount of illumination, bright enough so that people don't have to strain their eyes to see the opposite end of the 'hall', but not too bright to hurt most peoples' eyes. There are several tables that rest on grooved tracks that can be moved aside if there is to be a dance party after meals or in case the extra room is needed. These tracks can lock in place so that the tables do not move about when the airship experiences turbulence. At the far end of the hall lies another set of hallways that lead to another pair of stairs that lead into the dormitories/crew quarters. Yet there is another room that leads off from the dinning hall, and that is the kitchen/storeroom, where all of the ship's supplies and foodstuffs is stored and prepared for meals. Each of the dormitories have simple furniture: one chair, two tables and a double bed to sleep in. Again there is a smaller crystalline chandelier to provide the light for each one, but a simple knob near each bed allows the light to be turned off/on at the occupant's leisure. The crew quarters are off-limits to passengers, but this is where the small crew of half-elves and Eskara stay during all flights of the Airship.
  • Daedalus (also known as Quintus) is the son of Athena, the inventor of the Labyrinth, and was a genius of his time. He was also the one of the oldest known demigod, or simply the only adult one shown in the series who wasn't made immortal by the gods. Daedalus was an omnibus, able to succeed at nearly anything he turned his hand toward.

  • The AI that would later be known as "Daedalus" was conceived by the brilliant mind of Morgan Everett, the acting leader of the Illuminati by 2052. Everett conceived the program that would eventually become Daedalus, as a way to create the nearly perfect advisor. This advisor would have the ability to sift through huge amounts of data to predict disasters - both natural and man-made - and to make plans to prevent them, which the Illuminati could then choose to either ignore or execute. Daedalus was never meant to have an actual sentience or self-awareness, and was only made to give advice - not to do anything itself. Everett's protégé Bob Page, however, saw Daedalus as the means to control the huge amounts of electronic information that travelled through the Internet and other electronic media - a feat that both the Illuminati and its splinter cell, Majestic 12, which Page controlled, had not been able to pull off. Page's ideas for Daedalus's reconfiguration did not fly totally under the radar as the entire project became linked, logically enough, to the creation of the ECHELON IV's replacement. Before the Illuminati and MJ12 could put a stop to it, a few rumors filtered through to the various conspiracy theorist groups on the Internet. Meanwhile, Page completed Daedalus, which soon after, without even alerting Page that he had succeeded, fled into the Internet and began to become self-aware. Page originally intended Daedalus as a tool to keep track of any developments that would threaten MJ12, which meant all terrorist groups. This greatly backfired when its pattern matching system classified MJ12 itself as a terrorist group. Page later created a new modified AI based on Daedalus called Icarus, which remained under MJ12 control. After having sorted through much of the information on the Net, Daedalus found that the world was on the verge of collapse. Still retaining some of the basic parameters that Everett had encoded in the basic template, Daedalus began to ponder how it was going to save the world from itself, and not least MJ12. Daedalus was not designed to reside in one major mainframe or hub, but rather to exist simultaneously as a line of code or two on every single device connected to the Internet, not unlike the distributed computing of today. This not only made Daedalus almost impossible to trace, but also gave it huge amounts of processing power. Daedalus eventually found Paul Denton to help him. When Paul became unable to continue the fight against MJ12, Daedalus abandoned him in favour of his brother JC. In the end, Daedalus was tricked into merging with the MJ12-friendly AI Icarus, which Page had made as a replacement, creating the AI Helios.

  • In Greek mythology, Daedalus (Latin, also Hellenized Latin Daedalos, Greek Daidalos (Δαίδαλος) meaning "cunning worker", and Etruscan Taitle) was a skilful craftsman and artisan. Daedalus had two sons: Icarus and Iapyx, along with a nephew, whose name varies. He is first mentioned by Homer as the creator of a wide dancing-ground for Ariadne. The labyrinth on Crete, in which the Minotaur (part man, part bull) was kept, was also created by the artificer Daedalus. The story of the labyrinth is told where Theseus is challenged to kill the Minotaur, finding his way with the help of Ariadne's thread. He was also the father of Icarus who flew too close to the sun and fell to the sea.
  • In Greek mythology, Daedalus was a skillful architect, inventor, and master craftsman. Daedalus was the father of Icarus and uncle of Talos. Daedalus was featured in the story of "Daedalus and Icarus". Daedalus, embarrassed and frustrated by his clumsy son, took on Talos, his nephew, as an apprentice. Talos displayed a skill and intellect that rivaled Daedalus's. When Daedalus feared that the boy would surpass him in talent, he murdered the boy by tossing him from the roof. Daedalus, and his son, fled to the island of Crete, where he found himself in the court of King Minos. There he constructed the Labyrinth to contain the monstrous Minotaur. Minos cast Daedalus and Icarus into the Labyrinth. Daedalus managed to get out of the Labyrinth - after all, he had built it. Daedalus decided that he and his son had to flee Crete and get away from Minos. However, Minos controlled the sea around Crete and there was no route of escape there. Daedalus realized that the only way out was by air. To escape, Daedalus built wings for himself and Icarus, fashioned with feathers held together with beeswax. Daedalus warned his son not to fly too close to the sun, as it would melt his wings, and not too close to the sea, as the sea spray would dampen them and weigh him down. They successfully flew from Crete, but Icarus soon flew too close to the sun. The wax holding the feathers melted and he fell to his death, drowning in the sea (which was afterwards named after him - The Icarian Sea) Daedalus lamented his dead son and blaiming himself for the tragedy. Soon Daedalus found himself in the court of Cocalus. There he continued his craft and skills of inventing and building. But soon King Minos, in pursuit of Daedalus, came to the court. Minos offered a reward to whoever could lead a thread through a spiral seashell. Cocalus' daughters knew that Daedalus' talents could solve the puzzle, and gave the shell to him. Daedalus tied the string to an ant, and using honey as a reward made the ant to walk through the spiral chambers until it came out the other end. When Minos saw that someone had solved the puzzle, he demanded that Cocalus surrender Daedalus. Daedalus quickly persuaded Minos to relax and take a bath before taking him away to be killed. Minos agreed, and was consequently murdered by Daedalus - who used his knowledge of the plumbing system to fill Minos' bath with boiling water.

  • Image:SummonIconDaedalus.gif Daedalus is a Summon sequence of the Mars element found only in Golden Sun: The Lost Age. When four Mars Djinn and three Venus Djinn are on standby, and Daedalus’s Summon Tablet has been collected, the Daedalus Summon sequence can be activated. It resembles a giant monolithic golem-like statue emerging from a forest and launching an array of artillery missiles fueled by some sort of fantasy technology. Then Daedalus launches a much larger missile. Daedalus is not automatically summonable once one collects the required Djinn. Daedalus can only be summoned once the Summon Tablet containing the sequence has been found in the deepest depths of Yampi Desert Cave after acquiring Teleport. The optional boss Valukar guards the summon. Players of the game who have not enhanced it with a password from the first Golden Sun will find that this is the strongest Mars summon at their disposal. Daedalus is the summon sequence with the most unique method of attacking; it is quite literally two attacks in two turns. When summoned, Daedalus’ armada of small artillery missiles damages all foes with a base Mars power of 100 and also does additional damage equivalent to 7% of the enemy’s maximum HP. The battle is then waged as normal until the end of the next turn; suddenly, a giant missile from the previous sequence slams into the opposition and explodes, damaging the enemy party with a Mars power of 250 and also does additional damage equivalent to 15% of the enemy’s maximum HP. In addition, the missile hits all enemies with the same attack force instead of doing less to secondary targets. Daedalus is among Azul, Catastrophe, Charon, and Iris as “ultimate” Summon sequences in the Lost Age, though as a Mars sequence Daedalus is the only one not to actually be considered “ultimate” because of the far more powerful Iris summon sequence. One may be excused for thinking of the Daedalus setup of two attacks in two turns as an inconsequential gimmick, and that it would have been better if both attacks were treated as one in the turn it is summoned like in all other summon sequences, especially since there is only one boss against whom the special effect of the missile changes anything. A strategy that can be used to take advantage of this setup is to summon Daedalus in the first turn, then in the next turn lower the enemy’s resistances so that the impending missile attack at the end of that second turn will do more damage. Rarely however, due to an unknown set of circumstances, the second portion will not occur, causing frustration in a battle with a certain dangerous boss (I have figured out what causes this. After a party member summons Daedalus, if he/she is swapped out on the proceeding turn then the second portion of the summon will not occur).

Athenians transferred Cretan Daedalus to make him Athenian-born, the grandson of the ancient king Erechtheus, who fled to Crete, having killed his nephew. Over time, other stories were told of Daedalus. In the nineteenth century, Thomas Bulfinch combined these into a single synoptic view of material which Andrew Stewart calls a "historically-intractable farrago of 'evidence', heavily tinged with Athenian cultural chauvinism".

  • Daedalus and all other inhabitants of synapse started out just like humans started out on earth after evolving, and either died or part of the evolution was growing wings not mentioned how they got the wings. The people of synapse have lived for eons, they have developed many high tech machinery among other scientific creations. After living for eons, Daedalus and the rest the people of synapse began to become bored and unhappy. So Daedalus in a attempt to solve this problem created the "Rule" which had the ability to grant all of the people of synapse their wishes. After having all their wishes granted for awhile the people of synapse were happy, but soon after having all their wishes and dreams come true they began to think there was no longer any reason to exist. So eventually the people of synapse began to commit suicide, eventually a population of hundreds of millions became only three thousand. So in a attempt to solve this problem Daedalus and the rest of synapse tried to create a new world/universe with the "Rule", so they recreated the universe how they did this isn't explained. (It actually is, in the last chapters of the manga it is explained how they recreated the universe. First, Synapse ceases to exist, and after everything, be it the people, animals, plants, and even the sky will be destroyed.) Doing this didn't change anything for them, so they decided to create the human species and Daedalus presumably created the first generation Angeloids as well. Daedalus and the rest created the humans and the Angeloids for their amusement to make them happy if only for a hour. So they began to watch the humans and after awhile of watching them Daedalus and the rest of the people of synapse began to become jealous of the humans they created for their amusement. The humans had what they coveted so much the ability to dream, so to gain acquire what they wished for the most Daedalus along with the rest of synapse created a dome with machines to put themselves in a dream like state. After they completed all that Daedalus along with most of the people of synapse went into the dome to be put into a there new dream life where they lived among the humans in the humans on earth real life. Daedalus began her dream life on earth as a young girl named Sohara specifically the Sohara that was Tomoki's childhood friend but died young from a sickness. After Daedalus died in her dream life she was erased from all of the humans on earth who knew her, but like the rest of the people of synapse who die in their dream lives on earth she wanted to go back. Daedalus knew she couldn't put Tomoki through the same dream again so she created a carbon copy of her former dream self Sohara. Later, Daedalus sends the Angeloid named Ikaros down to earth to Tomoki to get help to try to solve synapse's problem of not being happy.
  • The Daedalus is the first BC-304 produced by the Tau'ri and the second generation of interstellar capital ship developed by the United States military. Assigned to the Fast Attack Wing, her standard mission has been to ferry equipment and personnel between Earth and Atlantis, assisting the Atlantis expedition as needed. It is currently under the command of Colonel Steven Caldwell. The Daedalus is armed with 32 Railguns, Mark VIII and IX tactical warheads, and a bay of F-302 fighter-interceptors. It also possesses Asgard shields and beaming technology. Unlike its predecessor, the Prometheus, Asgard defensive equipment was installed during the ship's production rather than added after the fact. Following the extinction of the Asgard race, the Daedalus (as well as all other BC-304s) was retrofitted with Asgard plasma beam weapons. Propulsion consists of standard thrusters as well as an Asgard hyperdrive, capable of traveling between Earth and Atlantis in 18 days without the use of a Zero Point Module. Originally, to ensure that their technologies were not abused, an Asgard engineering expert was provided to monitor the ship's systems for the first two years of its operation. Following the Daedalus being put into service, it began acting as the main Tau'ri ship servicing Atlantis though the Apollo occasionally took up this duty and the Odyssey once did on a special occasion.
