Innymi godnymi wzmianki ceremoniami są Oczyszczenie i Święte Czuwanie. Oczyszczenie to rytuał odnowienia wiary przez tych, którzy odsunęli się od niej albo pokutowali za uchybienia w czujności, lojalności lub regule. Święte Czuwanie oznacza przejście kapłana do wyższej rangi. Jest to całonocna ceremonia, sprawdzająca siłę woli kandydata. Jego broń zostaje zaklęta przez starszego kapłana czarem lewitacji, a koncentracja poddanego próbie musi utrzymać ją w zawieszeniu. Kapłani Helma nigdy nie rozkazują nieumarłym, chociaż źli kapłani mogą ich karcić.

König von Rohan und der letzte der Ersten Linie. Er war ein grimmiger Mann von großer Stärke. Als Freca für seinen Sohn Wulf um die Hand von Helms Tochter anhielt, verhöhne Helm ihn aufgrund seiner Körperfülle. Freca wurde zornig und schmähte den König im Gegenzug vor seinem Hofstaat. Daraufhin tötete Helm Freca im Zweikampf mit einem einzigen Faustschlag, wofür ihm später der Beiname "Hammerhand" gegeben wurde. Nachdem Helm im Jahr 2758 des Dritten Zeitalters eine Schlacht an den Isenfurten verloren hatte, zog er sich den Winter über in die Hornburg zurück. Viele Menschen starben und auch unter den Pferden und dem Vieh gab es große Verluste. In Helms Klamm herrschte nach dem Julfest bitterer Hunger und großes Elend. In ihrer Verzweiflung und gegen den ausdrücklichen Rat König Helms unternahm Háma, sein jüngerer Sohn und einige Gefolgsleute einen Ausfall aus der Hornburg, um Nahrung für die in der Festung hungernden Menschen zu erbeuten. Sie gingen allesamt im Schnee zugrunde. Helm wurde nun grausam und unheimlich vor Hunger und allein die Furcht vor ihm war bei der Verteidigung der Burg viele Mannen wert. In weiß gekleidet, ging Helm ab und zu selbst hinaus und tötete, stampfend wie ein Schneetroll, im Lager seiner Feinde so manchen Krieger mit bloßen Händen. Eines Morgens wurde Helm tot, aber aufrecht auf dem Wall stehend, „seine Knie waren ungebeugt“, gefunden. Er wurde 68 Jahre alt. Gegen Ende der Schlacht um Helms Klamm bezeichnete Théoden in der Filmtrilogie das Große Horn "Helm Hammerhands Horn".
