abstract
  • The Bronze Bull is a legendary execution and torture device believed to originate with the tyrants of ancient Greece, however much like the Wicker Man some historians doubt whether the device existed or if it was simply a tool of propaganda or misinformation. According to legend the Bronze Bull was an iron statue in the shape of a bull that was hollowed out, allowing a captive to be trapped within - at which point the statue would be placed atop a burning fire, causing the metal to heat up and burn the victim to death : it was said the device was altered so that the victim's scream became a type of "music", to amuse the sadistic tyrants that used it.
