| abstract | - The Baal-class Destroyer is a destroyer classification used by the UNSC. A successor to the Halberd-class Destroyer, the Baal-class carries it's legacy, with a mixture of heavy armaments, and heavier armour. The Baal-class is used to provide Escort to larger vessels, and as a hunter-killer or heavier warships. The Baal-class packs a compact design, meant for combating enemy warships. It features heavy slopped armour along it's front aspect, and heavy duty engines to the rear, and in between it packs numerous weapons, missile batteries, and defence phalanxes. While little larger than the Heimdall-class Frigate, it is almost twice the tonnage, thanks to to increased armour and weaponry. It's main gun consists of twin MAC cannons, in a side-by-side set up, meant for firing off rounds in quick succession. It also packs numerous smaller canons for engaging enemy warships at short to mid range. was the direct successor the previous generation of UNSC destroyers, made primarily for causing grievous injury to much larger vessels. It combines a slim profile and an over abundance of other armaments, making it a feared ship. Rarely used as an escort, they are used primarily to intercept heavy vessels in battle. Though it packs almost 50% more armour than the Frigate, it has the same grade of shielding. It also lacks a complement of deployable forces, like its predecessor, along with no fighters but packs a larger multitude of Firestorm and Thunderstorm CIWS. It also features a larger reactor, though the majority of its power is focused on the guns, with the rest going to its other systems, making it slower than the Frigate, though faster than cruisers and carriers.
