Si de Sonic, Tails, Knukles o Amy recogen las 6 en el GP azul se enfrentarán al Dr. Eggman en una carrera final alrededor del Death Egg. Si Eggman, Metal Sonic o Nack la comadreja recogen las 6 en el GP azul, se enfrentan a Sonic en la ultima carrera.Este juego fue traído después a la recopilación de Sonic Gems Collection, nombrado en el menú de juegos como Sonic Drift Racing. A diferencia de su predecesor, este juego fue lanzado internacionalmente. Sega Europa decidió cambiar el nombre del juego Sonic Drift Racing, muy probablemente a que el "2" es obvio que el juego era una secuela y desalentaría a los jugadores que no han jugado el original. Sin embargo, aunque el nombre de los envases fue cambiado a Sonic Drift Racing, la pantalla del título sigue diciendo Sonic Drift 2.
