  • Mistilteinn (ミストルティン Misutorutin) is Hayate Yagami's first attack in the series, being a petrifying [[:Special:Ask/-5B-5BCategory:Spells-5D-5D-20-5B-5Bspell-20category::-5D-5D-20-5B-5Bspell-20type::-5D-5D|bombardment]] spell by raining down seven light spears on the target. Although it has relatively low power and short range, it bears the additional effect of petrification. This spell's aria is "Approach from beyond, mistletoe branches, become spears of the silver moon, shoot and pierce! Petrifying spears, Mistilteinn!"
  • While not appearing physically or having any statistics inside the data, there is a text string of Mistilteinn suggesting that at one point during development that this weapon was planned to appear in the 3D remake as a rod.
  • Also spelled Misteltein, it was the name of the mistletoe arrow or spear (depending on account) in Norse mythology which killed the god Baldur, the god of peace, light, and many other good things. Baldur was invulnerable to everything except misteltoe, an immunity given to him by his mother, Frigg after she had a prophetic dream fortelling of his death. Many of the Aesir (Norse gods) would have fun by throwing objects at Baldur, which would all bounce off without causing any harm. Loki made a spear out of mistletoe and gave it to Hodr, a blind god who was also Baldur's brother. He threw the spear and killed his brother. The death of Baldur was the first event in the sequence of events which would lead to Ragnarok, the end of the world in Norse mythology.
